Black TJ on 33" KM2's

Hey fellow JF'ers

After years of driving this little rig stock, I was finally in a position to be able to throw a little bit of lift and some meats on it. I bought this rig brand new in Dec. '05, and have driven it daily ever since. It's a Sport, loaded with every option short of a Rubicon, including A/C, cruise and the mirror that tells you how friggin' cold it is outside. Up until now, all I've been able to do is read JF and dream, seeing all of your rigs looking the way I wanted mine to.

So, on with the mods.
I decided that I wanted to run 33" KM2's, based on the excellent reviews that I read here. I needed a tire that could handle trails, mud, highways, ice and snow.
To clear these tires, I wanted to use parts that could either work with future mods down the road, or could be easily removed. The best choice for me was a BB kit and a BL/BMML kit. At the recommendation of my supplier, I went with the Zone Offroad BB, and I used the JKS BL and BMML because they seemed to be the most popular and best reviewed.

The install went well, without any major issues. It was all done on my garage floor with hand tools, a floor jack and jack stands. I followed the directions to a T for the Zone lift, and watched the Rokmen videos on YouTube to do the JKS products. For anyone that is about to install these, watch these videos. The few issues that I had were;
1. Shifter hit bezel in 2,4,6 and Reverse. Trimmed bezel, put 1/4" spacers under transfer case mount bolts to lift tranny back up. Fixed.
2. Despite what the JKS instructions told me, I had to use the shift linkage drop bracket. Not a big deal, but don't trust them without looking.
3. Fuel filler hose was a tight fit, loosened the hose clamps, lengthened the assembly, and tightened it up again. Tight fit, though...
4. MML would have been a lot easier with two people. One person installing bolts, one person adjusting the jack.
5. 12.5" tires on stock rims make contact with my sway bar. Shimmed the steering stops.

So far, everything works great. Tires perform wonderfully, Jeep rides just like stock, no tire contact with the flares when wheeling (yet...), and it still fits inside my garage

Thanks for looking, and thanks for the inspiration and knowledge!

It's got 62,500 kms. on it. I believe that translates out to roughly 1,257,500 miles. Give or take a few, depending on where you put the decimals.

Mud was great. The snow up here is finally thawing, making for a perfect test-and-tune environment!

After about a week, I've put about 200kms on, with one wheeling excursion in the mix. I'm so impressed with these KM2'S so far, they balanced well, roll straight, have outstanding road manners, and pull through more than I think they'll be able to. An amazing tire - if you're thinking about getting a set, they have my vote!
