BigMike's '09 2D Rubicon Build

Gotta start somewhere.

Bought it on 10-17-09

3weeks later, I installed the Rough Country 2.5" BB. Install took about 3 hours just like they said. Installed the rear sway bar end links up front and made my own adjustables for the rear.

A couple of easy mods. Debadge the grille and put Jeep decals on the front fenders.

Dog collar clothes hanger. Actually had this laying around from when I removed it from my '02 TJ.

Garage door opener. It's a Genie keychain opener that will control 3 doors. I stuck it under the steering column with Velcro so I can take it with me if needed.

Harley-Davidson cue ball shifter knob. I made this yesterday. $1.20 1/2" black pipe 4" nipple and $1.40 pack of 1/4-20 set screws. Cut the pipe 1.5" and drilled and tapped a 1/4-20 hole near one end for the set screw. Then drilled a 13/16" hole in the cue ball (started with 1/8" pilot and went up in many increments). Painted the pipe gloss black. Gorilla glued the pipe in the hole and let it set over night.

Sold my stock Rubi wheels/tires on cragslist and bought ProComp Rock Crawler Style 98 15x8" wheels. The tires are Duratrac 33x12.50-15. Also did a front bumper chop the week after I installed the lift.

Do you wheel this? BTW, VERY nice jeep. Have to say yellow is my favorite color on a jeep.

I will be wheeling it. Just got the Rubi 9 weeks ago. Need to free up some time first - went back to school to get my MBA at Georgia.

How do you like those Duratracs? I think I want a set whenever I jump up to the next tire size.

Nice JK, I like the half doors and the chopped bumper. Duratracs are a great tire too.

Thanks!

Really like the Duratracs. Good grip offroad - smooth and quiet on the pavement.

Those pictures were taken in North Georgia in the Chattahoochee National Forest. It is right near Lake Burton.
