Cool deal man. My Bilsteins should be here by the end of the week and I'll sit on this paycheck and next weeks and I'll be set. I'll get up with you before then if possible and get all the odds and ends sorted out.

And here is What I got today! Herculiner was on sale for $60 and another $10 off for being "discontinued"... Beats me. And my rear drop line for the 8.8.

Got a little bit done and have a good start for some general "clean up" of the jeep today! It used to have side steps apparently and where the holes were, there was some surface rust. I started to grind the spots and sand a little when it turned into doing the whole passenger side of the exposed frame rail! Going to do the drivers side this week and finish grinding/sanding/painting my 8.8 as well. Used regular rattle can primer and then rust tough enamel.

Brown Santa showed up today, two shocks short. Got the fronts but the rears are MIA. Called nick over at KPO, got everything sorted out and should have the rears by the time I end up in the shop next Friday and Saturday with VACJ5. If anyone has any feedback on Bilstiens I'd appreciate it, my question is this (to anyone reading)... There are two different part numbers for rear shocks. The dimensions are the same on both (although valving and compression isn't listed) shocks but one is listed as "Spring over lift" and one as "4-6" YJ lift." I switched to the spring over shocks because they are available but I wouldn't mind knowing the difference if anyone has any insight or experience. Nick and I discussed the idea that the valving and compression is a little stiffer or higher for different handling that comes with a spring over conversion. I will try and dig up both part numbers later.

Tonight when I get off work I get to track down the new grinding in my ax5 and then drop the jeep off at the shop with VACJ5. Tomorrow we get started on my spring over and 8.8 swap/conversion. VACJ5 has fabbed all my perches, plates and will be doing the welding. Right now I'm giddy as a school girl...

Looking good, I am following this build. I am partial to the color of your YJ for some reason. (except the black eyes). I believe it was called "bonsai blue" back in '93

Well thanks for checking out my thread! Now that I look back I wish I wouldn't have painted the headlight bezels, but hindsights 20/20 right? Man your YJ is clean! I've been considering re-painting mine eventually but who knows.

Jeep is at the shop with all my parts except my rear shocks. That's all that's holding me up!

The jeep is under the knife and of course my rear shocks still aren't in so it looks like I'll be hung up on this for awhile. I'm afraid that I'm going to have to go WAAAAAAAY around my *** to get to my elbow at this point.

So my rear shocks should be in Tuesday and my steering setup should be complete tomorrow.

Here you can see the JB4x4 raised steering bracket which relocates your tie rod by moving it up, this requires a little more length and it I suggested that you run two new tie rods and an adjustment sleeve from a 1987-1990 YJ because it is longer (that will be here Sunday morning).

Props to VACJ5 for doing great work and being all around great to work with. The plan is to have the front as finished as possible and the rear complete with the 8.8 in by tonight and then tie up all the loose ends when my parts arrive.

The pictures show the jb4x4 rsb and how you have to drill and thread the holes as well as the ridiculous ride height it's going to be until I get a set of stock springs. The current springs 3.5" skyjackers.

It's going to be HUGE, or at least a lot bigger than I was thinking!

Looking pretty sick. I'm wanting to go SOA in a few years when I get the space. The JB bracket looks good. You going to make an anti-wrap bar for the rear?

Thanks, me neither. I'm still waiting for them but they are coming from CA and most likely by truck so I expect to get them next week. After that I'm sending them to be powder coated.
