i havent posted in a while, alot of things have been going on. god took three beautiful angels from our family on febrary 26. my brothe and his two yougn daughters were trapped in a house fire. he was a fellow jeeper as well. so needless to say its been going a little slow. i got the d in and all bolted up only to find i had a mystery leak. i pulled the damn thing out about 4 times before i found the culpret, dang vent lin spewing. so recently ive been working on getting the seats installed. i went with corbeau baja ultras. i also installed a jegs 60724pn steering wheel disconnect to make getting in and out easier. i also rebuilt my holley truck avenger and it runs 100% better than it did. so the past two days ive been working on getting the cage finished welded and painted. its bomb proof. so its just about done i just need to finish bolting the cage to the floor. ive also gathered parts to make my windsheild pop off in seconds. ill post that when i get the time to do it. also been thinking of dragging the ol d60 into the garage and starting working on that. pics to follow

Loss of family is never an easy thing to deal with, you and your family will be in my prayers man. I just finished reading your full thread and have to say, your YJ is sweet. I'd love to one day run your current setup, motor and trans that is. Keep up the good work, regardless of who's following along here. It looks like you've got a great platform and know what you're doing so keep it up.

i did a quick little fab job this morning ive been wanting to do for a while. i decided to mount my hi lift jack. pretty simple task. drilled two 3/8 holes. put some 3/8x4'' bolts in welded them. then used 1/2'' gas pipe cut down and notched for a spacer. welded that around. and viola! i had a jack mount. sprayed some rustoleum on her and tightened down some wing nuts! i know from a previous mount i had, it had holes through the bolt tips for tiny little locks so thieves couldn't take it. i might consider that in the future. all in all quick little fab job, felt good to get back out and make stuff. heres pics!

the mount is level its the right wing nut that makes the jack sit a little goofy.

its been a while fellas!! oh man my kiddo is getting big its crazy. not much time for fabbing with work and the little one. hard to believe in a month and a half she'll already be 1!! well i did fab up two fire extinguisher mounts. i never got around to posting em though. didn't do much of a write up, just some flat steel 1'' by 1/4 i think, a stainless hex bolt and nylon nut and a detent pin from home depot. i haven't done much else other than wheel it. i did take the bottom two leafs out of my packs on the front. flexes a ton better and rides better too. i installed a little valve on the inlet side of my cutting brakes, that way i can use it as a parking brake or if i wanna do some nasty burn outs haha. rebuilt both cutting brake cylinders. i have not brought the d60 in the garage yet.. BUT i do have some stuff coming from ruff stuff specialties!! scored big on the BUILDER 25% discount!! ordered gm one ton steering with 1 1/2- .25 dom. gonna be tough. plus new ball joints. this is hopefully temporary till tons. also new reflex header gaskets to solve my header bolt loosening problem. I'm kinda rambling but ill keep you guys posted on the steering install and post pics of previous mods. I'm planning on doing tbi swap in a month or two as well. so you'll be getting some email notifications this thread is revived!!
heres the fire extinguisher mounts

sweet little parking brake valve. i don't trust it completely for a parking brake just for the record

[IMG][/IMG]

this was flex before removing the leafs - yes that is an excavator, gotta be creative!! ha ha

[IMG][/IMG]

and after removing the leafs got an inch or more for free.. couldn't complain

got my steering stuff in the mail today!! got right to work. pulled the old crap off and started drilling out the knuckles.. what a pita. my ratio was two beers per knuckle.. even with slow drill speed and spraying pentroil constantly it took for ever. next was the dread pitman arm. i decided to drill it on the jeep from underneath. i quickly realized that was a huge mistake. but i kept at it till i got through. that was about as far as i got. hoping to get on it tonight after work.
heres the BEEF!!
[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]
this has me kinda worried. I'm going to put the tie rod over the knuckle. my pit man arm looks like it could possibly bind up. i guess ill figure it out once i cycle the suspension..

Is that the ruff stuff kit? I run the same setup otk and you will need a stock pitman arm to do it....... looks like a drop arm to me?

yes sir it is ruff stuff. i love there products and customer service. i took advantage of the 25% discount they had last week. good deal!! tonight i got the tie rod measured and welded up. welds are a little rusty, ill probably end up doing a second pass for added security. its been awhile since I've turned the ol welder on.. also was kinda in a rush but fabled up a sweet little steering stabilizer bracket using scrap steel and two 1.5" exhaust clamps. for a total of 3 bucks!! i ordered a wagoneer pitman arm btw. kinda at a stand still till i get it at this point. i did but a cheapo pitman arm puller. busted out the gas axe and heated it up and it practically fell off.. pretty easy job so far. all that work drilling the drop pitman arm to have to buy a new one.. i am gonna take my gas axe and torch off the old front track bar mount from the axle. that way its not getting all beat up when the suspension cycles. heres some pics!!

penetration looks damn good but just not the prettiest
[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

mock up pics before
[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

I've read a lot how hard it is to weld bungs in steering with out messing the threads up. even a buddy janked up two heim bungs. i decided if theres no good way to do it id try this stuff we use at work called kaowool. its fire proof insulation to like 3000 degrees. use it on big commercial cleaver brooks boilers. stuffed it into the bung and welded away

[IMG][/IMG]

heres the plate i fabbed up. wish i had more time to grind it all perfect, probably finish it before its permanent
[IMG][/IMG]

and in action

well its been slow. I've been dealing with dan at ruff stuff. I've gotten two y link ends with the wrong taper so far. so waiting on a new one will be here monday. got a wagoneer pitman arm from morris 4x4. drilled it to 1'' and installed it. got everything ready to go minus the missing link end and paint. also decided to remove my headers to clean the flaking coating off and install new gaskets. had a buddy sand blast em. then painted em with vhf silver flame proof. not for show mostly to kep em from rusting out. turned out pretty well. also installing remflex gaskets. read there supposed to be pretty good. ill give a review in a month or so. pics later this evening
