Hey guys, so I finally am getting some cosmetic work done so this thread should start getting a lot more interesting. To be honest I was starting to feel like it was never going to get done but now that I am can actually see what I've done I'm feeling a lot better about this build.
So, last night drove over to the garage and stated the fender swap. To the person that said they did this in an hour in another thread, they are a liar! It took me eight hours total but then again my jeep is super rust and I had to run up to the store to get stuff. The good thing is that I was able to cut out most of the fist on the side of the passenger fender so that saves some body work.
On the front I gained about an inch of clearance and they look great!!!! my cuts could have been better but I think I did pretty good for being new to this stuff. Here's the back. I gained about 1 1/2 inches there
I also painted my rocker guards and since the fenders made the rocker area smaller I was able to run the guard from the back all the way to the front. I haven't taken any pictures yet but I will when the weather starts to clear up, hopefully tomorrow. I think I might make a video too.
I got my Christmas present in the mail today from my girlfriend. She bought me a set of black Cragar soft 8's 15x8!!!!!!!! They should look sick!
I hope to get the wheels mounted and balanced in a week or two and then I have to replace a seal in my trans, replace a seal in my front axle, and replace my rear pinion seal and the rear diff gasket. Once that's done ill make some more plans.
hey so my computer crashed so i haven't been able to post in my thread for awhile but that certainly did not stop me from working on the jeep I've got a ton to show but wasn't able to take many pictures today because i was wrestling with the new speakers and radio trying to put them in. ill be posting pics tomorrow. here she is as she sits.
replaced the front windshield a couple weeks back. No more wet feet! It was a cream kind of color so i painted it black just so it wouldn't look horrible, but i think i rally like it. When I hurk line the tub i think im going to do the windshield frame. What do you guys think?
Also went and got myself a hi-left and mounted it up on the hood. I was thinking forever about a way to mount the hi-lift without having to spend 30 bucks on the mounting brakets and this is what i came up with. Havent seen it anywhere else and its sooooo simple, no fabrication at all. I just bought 2 spark plug sockets, 2 five inch long carriage head bolts, 2 nuts and 2 wing nuts + 2washers.
I ran the bolts up through the existing front bolt holes on the hood hinges, slipped the sockets over the top, fastened the down with the nuts, through the hi-lift up there and fastened that down with the wing nuts and washers.
This is one of my favorite things that Ive done to the jeep so far. 06' GRAND PRIX SEATS!!!! Got the at a junk yard for 30 bucks, for the set! they are completely functional except the driver seat tilt all the way forward to let passangers in (4 door grand prix), but the passanger works.
