Bad ecm

I recently did an engine swap from a 2001 into a 1996 jeep cherokee...we swapped everything (by everything i mean everything) we changed wiring harness, gas tank, dash, center console, litterly the only we have changed was the rear axle. My problem is everytime we go to start it it starts right upbut about 3 sec later it turns off and it doest stutter or anything it just shuts off like if you turn the key to turn it off...we put a computer to it and it gave the code 1694 which has 2 causes either wiring or bad ecm...Before i buy a new ecm from auto zone for over 200bucks i just wanted to hear everyone elses opinion on it and what they think before i spend 200 bucks and thats not the problem its something else.. Thanks for reading
