Also to my heater core replaced. It was a pain to swap with the a/c in there too.

First I took out the battery and bracket so I could access 3 of the 4 heater core bolts, the fourth is behind the injector rail on the firewall

Now to get the A/C moved out of the way as far as it will move

With that out of the way, there are 3 cables you need to unclip. 2 closest to the passenger door, one at the furthest point of the water closest to the driver side. Careful not to break the clips like I did. they don't look like they're easy to swap. Undo the duct for the defroster.
Now you need to gently pull the assembly out watching for any wires that may snag
Boom! Its out

Now there's like 12 or 15 small bolts around the back of the heater that need to be removed to access the blower motor and heater core

Reassemble and enjoy

So Monday night I went out to the lake to go fishing. It started raining and winds picked up so fishing turned into let's hop in the jeep and go wheeling... Well it was about as successful of a wheeling trip as it was fishing.
We found some hidden trails way on the back side of the lake that looked promising so it was all fun until I snapped the driver side axle shafts and u-joint. Easy fix, I got spares... Well the spares I had were not the d30 shafts I thought they were. Damn... Ok so let's reassemble with out the shaft and I'll drive out in 2wd...

Ya my buddy was a lot of help

Got about 100 yards and the unit bearing ripped in two, which snapped the caliper mounts off the knuckle and off went the tire, rotor, caliper, and half the unit bearing. F&$K!!

Luckily I had a spare unit bearing and I sourced a shaft off CL for $50 to get me home. I put a nice flat rock in the brake caliper between the pads, tied it up on the fender and limped it home with only 3 brakes

Dang! My bud broke an axle and we wheeled it several miles without the unit bearing failing. Nice carnage!

Man I wish. I had to 4lo it up this nasty, wet, rocky hill and that's what I think killed it quick. But I was still a good 15 miles back in the canyon off the main dirt road.

Yikes man. Did you reassemble the stub shaft in the hub after removing the broken shaft? There's no reason it should have failed if you did that.

It needs to be there to hold the unit bearing together. The 36mm nut squeezes the bearing between it and the stub shaft

Ya I didn't know that at the time, I do now. As I reassembled everything it became clear. As my friend said, if he was awake he would have told me that. He was the dumbA in the sleeping bag It's cool tho. His older brother was a huge help tho as an extra set I hands while I worked.

Well a month later, and a new-to-me knuckle donated by zte, new ball joint, new rotor, new thrush muffler, new idler pulley, as well as a step closer to my tummy tuck with a JKS MML and some BSERK 4" booms to bring the jeep down a little bit.

Took a little grinder motivation to get the lower BJ off

All bolted back up. Somebody's signature red knuckle. Thanks again bro. I'm extremely thankful

Nice little carnage

New one bolted up
