This coming season I'm going to use the sandrail for the first time in three years. I bought/ordered the sandrail new in 2006, but the sandrail has been sitting for the last three years in the garage/trailer without being used. My wife gave birth to our daughter 2 1/2 years ago and that's how I got into the Jeeping world, I was told that we needed something slower than the sandrail and still go out as a family.
 GREAT job Caddyman! I've been following along for some time and you've done one class job! All that hard work has definitely paid off. Thanks for taking time to share your project. :cheers2:
Thank you, as you know it's a lot of work to keep up with your thread
But it's worth it for someone that needs a idea or motivation
I'm working on the front lights, winch, bumper installed today.
Went to the local exhaust shop yesterday for a quote, to reuse my cat. convertor and make a new pipe from the header to the new rear cross member then dump it downward it will cost $175. I have to return on Monday to have it done.
I had a major set back last week, after driving the Jeep several times around my neighbor hood (less than 10 miles total) the NEW power steering pressure hose came apart and blew p/s fluid EVERYWHERE!!!
I'm planning on going out tonight to the desert and wheel with some buddy's at night and come home in the morning. The true test will be next month at Rocktober Fest in Johnson Valley.
Jeep turned out great! I run 1.5" spacers on my 8.8 to clear the coilovers and the tires still rub a touch when aired down. How bad are you getting into the coilovers? Got another question what did you end up running for spring rates?
See how it is you may want togo lighter I was 175/250 and just swapped to 175/175 and the ride is noticably better. Can you just move the lower mount in on the axle some how close is the coil to the upper mount at full droop? Or it also looks like 1.5" spacer would probably do the trick. What do you have from the outside framerail to the inside buldge of the tire so I can compare it to mine for you.
Yeah I've also got 5" with an 8.8 and 1.5" spacer. Your backspacing may be the difference in needing 3" spacers to clear.
I run 12" shocks so its prob more of an issue with the 14's. You gonna try to find an e350 60 for the back?
I really haven't sat down and added it all up, but I did need to get a larger box for all the receipts
That's one of the reason's I'm building my own 60's, in fact I got the front axle last night. It was out of a 87 F350 SRW HP KP Drivers, in really good condition, king pins look almost new. Cali truck for sure!
Just a little update, still gathering parts for my axle swaps.
So far I have;
87 Ford Dana 60 KP HP front axle 69" WMS (I'm going to narrow to 67")
89 Chevy Suburban 3/4 14 bolt FF rear axle 67" WMS
Artec High steering arms
Reid Ford Knuckles
Rear Wilwood brake calipers
All new axle brackets and bridge from GenRight
New 39" BFG Krawlers (red label)
Still need,
5.13 gear sets
ARB lockers
Front inner and outer axle shafts
Drive flanges
New 8 lug Beadlocks wheels
Chevy F & R brake rotors
Seem like I've been down this road before.........................
