Hey Sandking, thanks for the support. Like I said, I am not the one who originally coined the TJ-6 term, but I believe this was the thinking behind it. The CJ-6 was a CJ-5 that was stretched between the wheels. It still had the same rear overhang as the CJ-5. I am basically doing the same type of stretch on my TJ: all between the wheels, keeping the original TJ's rear departure angle.

When Chrysler stretched the TJ frame to make the 2004-2006 Unlimited TJ's (LJ), they added 10" between the wheels and another 5" of rear overhang for a total cab stretch of 15".

There is a great picture on bctj's build page that shows the different wheelbase dimensions between his TJ-6 and an LJ. I am basically following his ideas:

I don't know about that. I'm swapping axles and redoing my suspension at the same time. Will probably take the greater part of a year.

I'm curious as to why you cut the tub where you did VS the Z cut I saw on another build?

This is a pretty cool build but Im curious is the storage space a huge factor for you? I just think if the wheelbase is what your really after why not just stretch the rear for what would seem to be alot less work.

Awesome progress though and Ill def enjoy watching this.

Well, I didn't want to cut into that boxed section that ties into the main rollbar. It looked too challenging to put back together in a clean manner for me.

To get 15" of rear stretch you would need to change your suspension, modify the frame, cut the tub, get and plumb a fuel cell, plus it probably wouldn't be street legal.

The frame extensions look perfect , nice and square on each end . When I stretched my samurai I didnt add a brace and when I cut the frame it sprung in ... I was not happy getting it all lined back up .
