So I had a small adventure this weekend.

I have been searching craigslist for a couple weeks now looking for a hardtop and some hard sliding upper doors. Found a guy selling a hardtop WITH doors yesterday for $550!! Call the guy up find out hes about 2 hours away but we agreed on $500. I finally get up there last night and come to find out its a YJ top the previous owner modified to fit a TJ. He claims it fit perfectly fine on his 99 so I offer him $300 and Im on my way back home with a hardtop and some hard upper doors. Throw in $50 in gas and I think I got a pretty sweet deal considering the door uppers go for $300-$400 by themselves.

Now I just have to power wash it put a fresh coat of paint on it and hope the hardtop fits.

Funny thing is most 97 TJs had YJ tops on them. The real only difference is the vents on the back corners and the bolt holes in the belt rail.

There are a couple differences with this one.

Ill post a picture at some point this week but it does not have a rear wiper, I dont believe it has a hookup for rear defroster either but it was dark and I didnt really look for it and the clamps are completely different. It has 2 inner clamps on each side to hold it down on the belt rail and no clamps to attach to the header channel.

So, does it bolt to the windshield header? It has to attach there somehow.

For that price you can always glass some kinda clamp to the top to get it to attach to the windshield frame. Guess the idea is to be nice and toasty in the Jeep this coming winter

it has latches near the door opening Ill have to modify it and add latches to hold the front down.

I think my dad's yj hard top bolts to the header with self tapping screws. His does have a rear wiper, I believe, so that's an option.

Take the clamps say of a best top header. Make a metal mount that will fit them to the top put about 4 to 5 layers of fiberglass matting over it saturated with epoxy and it's all better. You can do some really cool stuff with fiberglass

It,s simple mix epoxy with hardener saturate the glassmat good with the epoxy, paint brush works good, get all the air bubbles out and add the next layer etc
