I'm even debating stripping my T&Ts up front and doing a rattle can black just 'cause touching up a metallic paint code is a PITA.

Scratching my head a little right now. Let me know if anyone has suggestions. So I'm cutting into the frame to move the upper buckets but the rear crossmember is welded directly behind this piece of the frame I need to cut out. How should I address this so the springs can fit in here?

I'd probably cut it, and work it into my new coil upper coil bucket since it looks like it's going to occupy the same location. All it's doing now really is holding up the front of the gas tank isn't it? As long as you don't cut the rear most cross member before you get that one secure again the frame will stay "relatively" square. That would be my ghetto fab thinking.

It no longer hold the tank. Trench tank has new side mounts. All it does is body mounts

Angrytj

I would use the cut you started and just get rid of the entire crossmember an build a new one.
Remember it only holds the two body mounts now. And those are not hard to find a soloution for.

If you notch any lower like the barnes kit your gonna have to run a much smaller spring to achieve the same ride height

Forgot about the body mounts! In that case since it's not hold the tank at all, and obviously no longer responsible for the shocks.... I'd make a new one just for the body mounts.

This is what I said.

Jut make a new one to support body mounts. Nothing else

Thanks for the advice guys. I'm thinkin Ill just notch the crossmember and use a smaller bucket. Potentially the ballistic fab ones and tuck the larger side on the inside of the frame?

I'm sure you have it figured out but that coil bucket with the side piece looks perfect for a place to weld the "new" crossmember to if you so chose to make one, actually you could probably just section out a bit of the old one and reuse it. Now THAT's what I'd do. That would make the welding easier.... not so deep in there with the bucket on the backside. Of course I'm not sitting there looking at it so.... I'm just thinking out loud looking at your pics.
