AEV's Up In 'Da Hood

If you don't know the backstory, here it is:
Merging onto a major highway (Rt. 140 E to 795 S for those of you Marylanders), a huge chunk of ice flew off of a moving trunk ... and wouldn't you guess it, it landed on my hood bashing my hood in and cracking my windshield.

So the insurance adjuster comes, says the hood's done, and rips me off a check for $1,600. Now, most people would just take it to a body shop, give them the estimate, and forget about it.

Not us Jeepers. We think more. So ...
New windshield, installed: $190
AEV Hood & new hardware (drove 2 hours each way and picked it up from Q-tec in West Chester, PA): $830
Get hood painted: $200
Total: $1,220 ... in my pocket: $380 and a NEW AEV hood!!

Had to sit for a week in the box ... busy paint shop:

The grill taken off for paint:

Switching all the hardware over (and new single windshield sprayer to replace the old double sprayer design on earlier TJ's):

Just six bolt and the hood's off ... yeah you can Jeep doorless and topless ... but you're not really Jeepin naked until the hood's gone!

FINISHED PICTURES IN NEXT POST!!!!

Before (with hood hinges unbolted, obviously):

Drumroll ...

Love my new FREE hood ... and I got paid $380 to put it on.

I know it would be kind of fraudulent, but what if we just threw big rocks on our hoods and say it was vandalism and get free hoods? Just an idea that came to mind.
