This is Lechuga. The word means lettuce in Spanish. No particular reason for naming her that, the fiancee liked the way that that sounded, haha
I used to have a 98 ZJ but decided that big of a rig wasn't for me. Sold that, and got a 2006 Wrangler TJ.
The dealer we got her from was in posh stuck up Redmond, where all the Microsoft employees buy cars and trade them in at the end of the year for the new production year model. (literally, they had a 2013 pickup with only 9k miles that was already traded in, and this was in February
She was the only TJ in an ocean of 2010+ Grand Cherokees, JKS, and a huge wave of JKUs. We were probably the youngest couple there and definitely the only ones without suits. We test drove her and immediately fell in love. A couple of months went by without any offroading. Throughout this time, we convinced a couple of friends to get Jeeps too, one XJ and another TJ. As soon as we got out on the trails, we knew we would never be satisfied on the road again.
This is how we got her, 40k miles. Funny note, we found out afterwards that 4 of the dealership employees had test drove it and were looking into getting her for themselves haha
Here she is next to her big sister, Black Tomy
But then I sold the ZJ, and just kept Lechuga.
Had some fun figuring out how to take it apart!
We didn't choose the thug life, thug life chose us.
Finding out how windy no top is!
Also had a lot of fun figuring out what we can fit inside her! Whoever said a Wrangler has no room, never bought a couch or a dresser or a trampoline!
On the couch one, my buddy had to put my back seat in his TJ haha!
Then came the inevitable moment of owning a Jeep! We decided to take her out on an easy trail to see what they can do!
And obligatory poser pic
A couple weeks later, we went back with friends! And feeling more confident we weren't going to get stuck out there, we really found out the capabilities of stock Jeeps, all of us were more than pleasantly surprised! These pictures are from the next two trips.
My brother is a supermodel haha
And here he is, trying out my rig!
Mudding is fun but I hate the cleanup!
Our adventures in offroading and Jeep lifestyle have just begun!
This may be kind of a slow build, due to monetary restraints, but I see this thread going more of a picture route. I will be posting every time we go out on the trail and any modifications she gets! I hope you guys enjoy my thread and seeing a young couple learning the ropes, building our first rig, and just plain having fun with a Jeep!
The only current modification we've done yet is doing a complete overhaul of the audio system!
We got all this sweet stuff in her!
The sub is bolted to my tub which prevents someone in a parking lot from coming up and just walking away with it. When we have no top, we're basically a boombox on wheels.
I'm pretty sure every other driver hates me at stoplights
Near future plans for Lechuga:
-Getting the Zone Offroad 4.25" TJ Combo Lift in a few weeks
-Either 31" or 33" AT Tires, not sure which brand yet
Other than that, pretty much just going to take it as it comes. The only thing that's a plan is painting her matte green, to better her fit the name!
Overall future plans are a DD/Weekend Warrior build. I don't want to turn it into a haul-in-a-trailer Jeep, but I do want to be able to tackle plenty of trails and situations. I hope to get some feedback and advise on where to go next guys! Thanks for reading.
