So I got to work more on my OBA project and I can say I upgraded fire extinguishers. It all works and pumps air great! No real leaks to be noted of. Although I believe that the pressure relief valve is bad. It keeps going off at 100psi, it is suppose to go off at 115psi. The main problem with this is the fact that my Pressure switch doesnt tell it to shut off till 110psi.

Still have to finish some minor things, wire a correct switch inside the cab. Get a actual strap and not a bungie cord to hold my Fire Extinguisher down, and plumb a front quick disconnect. May leave the Quick disco under the hood for now though.

My girlfriends dads jeep and mine

Hey man if you wanna see a pretty decent comparison as to where you will sit once you do the lift the first page of my thread shows the lift freshly installed with some like 29in BFG a/t on it. Thanks man.

I also picked up a rear locker today. However I dont think I'm going to use it. Instead I would much rather just go pick up an 8.8. I do not want to have to worry about breaking an axle.

Stock Turdy five on 33's locked sounds like a bad plan....

just find a cheap pear of chromo shafts for the 35 and rock the locker! My jeep had a super 35 kit installed in it when I got it and with the detroit and chromo shafts I have never had a problem breaking anything and I have 2.5 with 33's to. Trust me I beat on my yj pretty hard and it just keeps asking for more, with that said I am looking at doing a 8.8 swap next year lol!

Lol I have been pondering it, but I figured I am in no immediate need of the rear to be locked. I am hopefully going to make it to my local Pick and Pull to find me a 8.8 with my same gearing.

I started watching all of the people breaking shafts of their 35's on youtube and it got me paranoid. Although some of those people seriously abuse their rigs. Now I am in no way against the using the skinny pedal but their comes a point were my brain determines I bought my winch for a reason lol

Well I decided to give the Turdy five a chance. It is now locked now that I have got a pair of spare shafts. The install was not as bad as I was expecting minus me being messing up installing the spacer. Found out that pretty quick when I went to put the shafts in. Then had to tear it all back apart.

Going into the shop

The parts, and spares

Look very closely at this photo spider gear pitting.. I was amazed it still worked I am guessing there was not much lift left in them

Installed

Because I could

Then just to shoot my confidence back down after being fully locked, I went to a local mud hole where sure enough it got deeper and I high centered and used my winch to get out haha

Did some exploring

Now the work begins!

I am really just fixing a bunch of things that bothered me. My jeep has had a header manifold leak for some time now and is driving me bonkers, plus my gas mileage is worst because of this. I also need to paint my drivers side fender flare and high jack lift. I have rear shock boots to put on.

I am also planning on doing 19lbs injectors and a 4.0 throttle body while I have everything apart, that way I can correctly port the intake too for the throttle body..

Well I had two broken bolts inside the head that held my exhaust manifold on. Taped and dyed, DONE! I hate manifold studs... Almost every car I have had has had at least one broken.

Ohhh and my header had probably a 4 to 5 inch crack on the back of it. Welded it up, hopefully it holds.

High jack lift is semi painted.

Picking up a 4.0 throttle body from a buddy of mine hopefully tomorrow.

If everyone can see in the picture above, I have a Flowmaster Super 44 to put on my jeep as soon as I pick up a Magniflow High Flow catalytic converter.

Stuff keeps piling up...

Got my jeep back together tonight. Long process but much was accomplished!

The work begins

Disassembled

Said header crack

Welded (Pretty much a newb, have welded a header before on my old ZJ and it held fine)

All that was left of the old gasket VS. the new

Old injector VS. 19lbs 4.6l Thunderbird injector (I liked this style better due to the smaller size but still the 19lbs and 4 nozzle)

4.0 VS. 2.5 throttle bodies

Porting out the intake to make the 4.0 throttle body useful

Drilling out the broken head bolt

Fixed!

Everything assembled and ready to go in

Almost there

Anyway I have now completed this and drove the Jeep tonight. I can say it has more low end for a better take off. It may have a smoother power band as well. I can say that I am excited to drive it too really feel if there is any difference at all.

Well, I went out wheeling yesterday and the rear locker I just put it blew out. It either sheered all the teeth off or did some other catastrophic failure. I ran to pick and pull yesterday and pulled some usable spider gears as I was not going to put mine back in. I will hopefully get that together today with an update on the condition of the locker.

I had to drive home in 4 wheel drive which was not so fun on dry pavement with lockers.

Well as it turns out I dont think there is anything wrong with the locker. Two of the springs like popped out of the locker and it did not have enough force to hold it locked.... Anyway on that note my backup vehicle/daily driver the clutch stuff went out and now had no car. Borrowed my moms car and drove to the parts store for fluid and gasket for my diff cover and threw my spider gears back in so I could get to work tomorrow.

Heres a pic of what was missing.

Guess I am going to start building a Ford 8.8

My dad also bought himself a jeep. I think I made him a bit jealous. He bought a 1981 CJ7 SBC 350/TH350 np205 with a dana 30 front and dana 44 rear both with lockers.

So are you going to rebuild that locker or just leave diff open until the axle swap?
