99 Sahara. Green Machine

A little background about me. Almost 40. 2 kids. Been wheelin' since I was in my 20s, been going in the woods since my early years.

My last jeep was an 87 with 3/4 ton running gear locked and 36s. Road worthy, but not very good road manners. Got rid of it when my daughter arrived to focus on family.

Here are a couple of pics I took to sell it.

My son is old enough to start going offroad, so it was time for another Jeep.

I searched for about 2 months before I found this one.

The first owner sent it to Utah to have all the mods done to it after purchase.
It has 82000 miles on it, 6cylinder, 5 speed, air conditioning and the following mods.

5" rubicon lift
5-35" wrangler MTRs
Antirock front sway bar
Currie dana 60 rear with ARB 4:88
Dana 30 with Detroit in front 4:88
1 ton steering
Atlas transfer case
Full cage - unsure of brand
Boat sided - unsure of brand
Warn winch
rear bumper tire carrier (swing out)
front warn bumper
warn skids (front diff, steering box, gas tank)
CB located in cage above
Winch wired in cab controls

Took it out to a local trail close to the house with my son on Saturday.
Arrived at the trail and met a couple of guys going to recover a sunken full size, so I decided to follow them and make sure they got it out. Good thing I did. This truck was sunk to the frame.
After they tried to pull it with the truck they brought, I hooked to it with the winch and hooked the rear to a tree, so it didn't drag me.

My son gives the thumbs up.

That's it so far. I will update this thread with mods and pictures from wheelin' trips.

Plans are to outfit it with recovery, tools and first aid then start making it mine.

I want to lower it a little, go with metal cloak fenders and 36" tires. Eventually a 44 or 60 in the front and maybe some 5:13s.
A small stretch at each end.
Remove carpet and bedline the interior
LED Headlights and LED light bar

Ok I just placed the first order of things I think the jeep needs.

The rear bumper doesn't have any D-Rings, so I ordered two of those. This was a problem on Saturday, so this was a must.

The Jeep has the stock radio and I happen to have an extra radio, so all I need is the adapter and wiring. Those items are on the way.

The front fog lights are less than desirable, so I ordered some LED fogs.

The LED rear tail lights do not have any back up lights, So I ordered some flush LEDs for the rear also.

Speaking of LEDs, I have some coming for the interior and under hood. This will be less of a current draw if I have the door or hood open for long periods of time.

When we were recovering the full size truck, one of the guys had a snatch block that worked well. I decided I need one of those too.

There are no grab handles on the cage, so I have a couple of those coming as well.

When did you pick it up? Definitely a sleeper when I saw the specs.

Any pics of the cage?

I picked it up Christmas Eve day. I guess you are right. Kind of a sleeper.

Here are the only couple of pictures I have at the moment from the Previous owner.

It is a bolt on cage to the OEM hoop.

All the parts came in that I ordered.
Tried to put the radio in, but the bezel I ordered wasn't correct, so I have ordered another one.

Had about an hour to work on the jeep last night, so I decided to install the LED lights I ordered to use for the back up lights.

They put out a good amount of light. They came in a pack of 6, so I will probably Put a couple facing down and another couple towards the center, so it will light up where the spare tire hides the light.
After I did this, I probably should have used the hole in the brake light at the bottom. Whoever did the LED tail light mod put the bottom hole at the center instead of at the top. No material there to screw to.

Removed the fog lights that were there when I purchased the jeep last night and installed some LED "fog" lights.
Pretty straight forward.
Out with the old.

In with the new.

Need to get the Jeep outside and adjust the alignment of them.

Those new LED lights are nice. How bright are they and what brand?

I am satisfied with the output of them. They overpower the headlights.
Here is a link to them

Awesome thank you. Have you ever had an issue with them? Do they come with a switch to turn them on and off? They are super cheap

They do not come with a switch. Just the lights and about 12" of wire.
I just wired them straight to the existing wires for the OEM fog lights that use the OEM fog light switch.
They don't pull hardly any amps, so there is no need to worry about overloading the circuit.

I read complaints about water getting in them, so I will probably pull them apart and go around them with clear silicone just to be sure.

Oh okay cool. Funny thing is it says they are water resistant but I have been reading the complaint of water damage and foggy lens. They look bright as hell

Went out again Yesterday with my son. He slept 90% of the time, but it was still fun.
This is the same trail 15 minutes from my house. Went the opposite way this time. Need to do more exploring in the area and find some more trails.

not much of a picture, but this is the Sequatchie valley.
My son wanted me to take this picture, because he liked that building over there... LOL

Took my son out again yesterday. Found some more trails to explore.

This is overlooking the Sequatchie valley.

This is looking up the other way.

Of course he caught some ZZZZzzzs while we were out.

It was a bit cold, but we got out and looked around for a few minutes.

Going back out.

The fog rolled in as we left. Love me some fog pictures, so I had to stop and get a few.

Stopped by "window rock" for him to check out.

I was standing under the rock to get this shot.

Can't even see the hole through the rock from this angle. whoops.

Thanks. Are you on North Georgia Jeepers or Georgia trail riders?
They have monthly rides that I plan on taking my son on. Golden mountain the 21st.
