'99 MJ Build

Thought you guys might appreciate/enjoy this build. I've had few build threads here on JF over years, TJ, XJ, etc.. However, this is by far the deepest I've ever gone into a build.

Local Craigslist find that started as a rust free 1990 Eliminator, 4.0L, AW4, NP231, HP 30, Dana 35 with 175K. Over the next few weeks we stripped everything off the truck inside and out except the axles.

In the meantime purchased a 99' XJ Sport (another CL find) as the donor vehicle for front clip, doors, interior and drivetrain. The XJ had been side swipped on the driver's side rear. The only thing I couldn't use was the driver's door. Fortunately my buddy had a driver's door sitting in his garage from an 01' XJ.

To date the truck has been stripped, new front clip and doors installed from the 99'. Also built a set of 10g rear wrap around quarter guards, trimmed rear lower quarters and all fenders. Truck has been sanded and loaded today to head off to the body shop tomorrow for final prep and paint

More to come.......

Day one

Stripped interior(sorry crappy cell phone pic)

Engine bay

Bed removed, frame cleaned and coated with Rustoleum rubberized undercoating

Donor 99' XJ

Bed back on with corner guards

Gotta love the multi color truck! I just need a stick on my tailgate that say's "Under Construction" Loaded and ready head to body shop

Thanks for looking!

Plan to paint it Silverstone Metallic (same color as the driver's door).

Thanks. Mine will get painted one day. Maybe this spring.

I just put new doors on and they are also the Silverstone Metallic. I was thinking about painting the rest of the truck that same color. Can't wait to see how yours turns out.

Ha ha ha, so that's what the MJ would have looked like had they still been making them in 99. To bad the donor vehicle wasn't a WJ, that would have made for a pretty cool 2004 MJ.

Looks like your off to a good start. How far are you going with it? Just the body or are you planing to do the interior and motor as well?

Thanks for the compliments guys. I can't wait to get it back from the body shop....it's killin' me! Hopefully I will be picking it up on Saturday..fingers crossed.

I've been stripping the 99' over the past 2 weeks and stock piling parts for the MJ's return. I'll post some pics later.
