I made a decision to buy a new soft top. Mine isn't in bad condition, nothing leaks and windows are in good condition but I honestly just wanted tinted windows and for the price of a set of 3 windows, I mine as well spend 50 dollars more and get a whole new top. Somebody locally just bought a jeep and needs a new top so he offered me 100 bucks and i figured I would just sell it than deal with craigslist people waiting for a higher offer. Figured I could help a new jeeper out, we all know how expensive it is when we first get our jeeps.

I know I will probably get bashed for this but I don't care..I am going with smittybilt replacement top. Comes with the whole top, tinted windows, door skins all for 222 including shipping. My current door skins are sorta new so I am just going to sell the new ones that come with the top. I read a lot of reviews and it seems that the only people who said bad things about the top, were people who never owned them, they just see the name Smittybilt. I saw a lot of pictures and it looks pretty damn good to me. I am on a serious budget so how can I really go wrong?

I am such a spontaneous buyer..this was not in my immediate plans but it just happened haha whoops

hah I was going to buy a frameless top, I really like the look of them but I know I will miss just being able to flip my top up or down when it starts to rain or whatever. I can just see the top getting roughed up quickly when it has to be taken off every time. So I'll stick with this style for now haha

Congrats! Very exciting Thank you. I read a lotttt of builds but some stuff I either can't afford, or aren't really capable of doing so a lot of my stuff is pretty basic but it all comes together and makes a difference!

Good luck on the jeep. Start a build from the start, it's fun.

I've done a lot of tedious easy things to my jeep and I sort of want to do a project I will feel somewhat proud of doing lol. I have been really liking the light bars lately. I found some great homemade light bars on the forum. I think I am capable of doing this and while I have a lot of time on my hands I'd like to do this. I just have to make a decision on if I want to put it on the windshield (which I love but i'm kinda worried about drilling the windshield frame) or underneath my hi lift which would keep it sort of low profile. But if I put it on the hood I am not sure if thats too much in one spot between the hi lift and then the light bar..minges14 did a great job on a bar that I would like to do myself. Here is his bar:

My vote would be for the hood. I had a good light bar on my JK and I thought it looked great.

There's is plenty of space I believe underneath my hi lift and could somehow use existing holes from the hi lift mount so no more drilling..but I like the windshield..decisions decisions!

What about moving the hi lift off the hood?

I could but I like it on the hood. I've seen someone else on here that put the light bar under the hi lift and it works, I'm just trying to avoid to much clutter in one spot. I am really liking the top of the windshield..plus I just spoke briefly to the member I posted above who did his light bar and it doesn't seem to difficult to put it on the windshield frame. He used 3 L shaped brackets, bent them a little more than 90 degrees and bolted that to the windshield frame and then the bar to the brackets..seems simple enough
