Ok ,now the carrier bearings.Ipulled the old ones off the ls 44 dif and ground the center out so it will slide freely over the new open carrier.I used the same amount of shims that was on the old carrier, thats always a good starting point. The side to side preload seemed good so i pulled it back out and installed the ring gear. then dropped the carrier back in and howdy! right on the money, or at least close< .006. usually your moving shims from one side to the other to get it right.Pretty lucky! I checked the pattern and its good also. I then pulled out the bearings and installed the new ones. checked it one more time and still good.

aussie locker

Now to install the aussie locker.this was my first so i hope it works when im done. I had to pull the carrier back out .layed out all the parts and grease them up to hold them inplace.you use the old shaft and side gear shims, get rid of the spiders and there shims.I installed the little pins in the cam gears with the step pointing towards the bottom of the slot on the cam gear.i now installed the old shims on the new side gears and spacers and put into carrier. slide in the shaft and read the clearence between the shaft and the spacers. (i used to much grease!) Needs to be .006-.020. It was .007. Then pull the shaft out and spacers and put then on the cam gears.I then installed the cam gears in the carrier, put pin in and roll pin to hold it. Next was the springs. when your done ,check the gap, it should be between .145-.170. mine was .147. I reinstalled the carrier and put the cover on. Hope it works. I might of missed some steps but u can see its not to hard.

i need help with the d30 aussie install. Since it uses a clip to hold the axle on the pass side, whats the procedure, wont that clip interfere with the side gear? also the ring gear interfered with the shaft removal so i had to take off the ring gear.Is it the same in the 30

Last night i took the jeep for one last drive before i started taring it down. and i was in 2nd and going about 2000 rpm and the darn d35 blew up! it only has about 93000 miles on it . what a piece of junk. I pulled it out today and as you can see in the picture something was rattling around in there. what timing. I found a good use for my golf tees.

I know some advised me not to do this ,but i started on the spring hanger 2" drops. There is still time to talk me out of it,i haven't started welding them yet. With the new 6" booms ill get a 2" lift and not affect the caster.Ill box them in for added strength.
