WOW!!! looks great. I have a chance at picking up a decent '94 for $500 that I would LOVE to do this too. I need a welder and some skillz firts though.....oh.....and a wife that wouldn't divorce me if she looked and saw it in the garage
thats a good deal if its in decent shape. i got really lucky. i moved up to boone for school and my neighbor is a BIIIG car guy. hes got about every tool and he lets me borrow whatever i need including his welder but yea my welding skills SUCK to say the least but they penetrate and will hold good, they just look ugly as sin. and yea i dont have to worry about the wife thing yet thankfully
eh.... posting up pics of it in my thread now. It's not in the greatest shape, but if the wheels are in good condition it might be good enough to pick up just for those alone. They're 31's though....wish they were 33's.
those tires are nice but the jeep looks pretty worn out. on CL ive found a few xj's for around 1500-2000 that are in great condition and have lifts/cages/etc. ive also found some around the 1000 dollar range that are stock but good looking. and yea id hold out for some 33's if i were you. besides i just bought a set of 33's that were practically new mounted on some nice wheels for $600..... just sayin
yeah??? Would you pick this thing up for any amount of $$ or just avoid it all together? Let me know if you come across some more 33's. My HEEP's tread isn't going to hang in there too much longer I'll be on slicks soon.
i think id just avoid that one. it seems to be leaking everything and things arnt working. maybe if hed let it got for $100 or something like that but it almost looks like you would have to tow it home. as for the tires i went to the 4x4 place by me, walked in and said "i have 600 dollars and i need a deal on some wheels" he took me in the back and showed me a few sets. ended up with some pro comp 33x12.5 pretty much new on some aluminum wheels. they wanted $800 for them but saw the green and let them go cheap
Yeah, he was just offering it to me as a parts jeep... I guess I'll do the smart thing and pass.
That's how I got the 235's on gambler rims that I put on the HEEP right after I got it. I paid $250 for them and they had TONS of life left in them. I gave them to the guy that let me use his garage to put my lift on. I wish I still had the gambler rims to throw a spare set of wheels on and have sitting in the garage. Oh well....
Love the build! been thinking about pickng up up a cheap jeep to mess around with but it looks like you're really gonna turn this into something! I also like the idea of half doors! Hope it comes out as planned.
thanks. yea me too i dont have near the skills that the guy im working from has but i still wanted to do this sooooo. yea i think im gonna love the half doors too but i think ill still need to go get a set of full doors incase i need them. the plan is to make it so the top can go back on but after taking it off i doubt ill ever put it back on hahaha. the only problem now is that everything i need is expensive and im out of money
i know i know i just cant seem to keep up with it on here but on monday when i get back home ill get some pics and put them up here for everyone to see. i live up in boone so its a bit of a drive and seeing as the jeep is not driveable right now id have to tow it the whole way to your house then the whole way back up. oh and i dont think you want me to teach you how to weld my welds will definately hold but they are not good looking at all.
thanks. its taking a long time as you can tell by the dust collecting on everything but i think it'll be worth it in the end. shes going to have to sit for a while now though because im out of money and no one around here is hiring. going to the next town over in a few to see if anyone over there is hiring
