90 XJ - build log -"Hornet" (tons of pics)

So i picked up a second cherokee 10 days ago for $550 with a blown torque converter.

She has 173k and is completely stock and unmolested.

After getting her home via AAA tow, we got her to drive into the garage. And remove the old transmission, we put into it my 88 XJ transmission that i rebuilt with all new seals and bushings, the clutch packs where still new looking so we left those alone. Also put in a new Torque converter.

Ready to go back in.

Mounted my old 31 BFG AT on the stock wheels.

The next problem we had was the brake booster was bad, and i decided to also throw a new master cylinder in.

The plans once the paint is done is to get a RE 3.5 SuperRide lift, Build custom front and rear bumpers with winch, CB, redo the interior, new radio, mount roof rack from my 88 XJ into it.

So now after two and a half days of sanding she is ready for primer and paint, I am going with a yellow and black paint job.

All taped off and ready to spray, I need to setup my drop-cloth paint booth first though.

I went to carquest and got one gallon of Nasson yellow paint and one gallon of primer.

Got the one coat of primer shoot...
Only one problem, i did not realize how bad this stuff smells, i think i'm going to look into paint booth rental for this weekend.

Got sick of waiting to see the yellow and dabbed some on the windshield, so here are a few teaser shoots.

That thing will look nice!

Have you considered the newer XJ brake upgrade? I didn't see anywhere what your plans were for the brakes.

I ended up getting the same stock booster and MC, i went to the local JY and the only newer brakes they had where with ABS.

Well the moment you all have been waiting for is here, just laid the first coat and got very good coverage. 18 oz of paint covered the entire jeep minus the roof with one medium wet coat.

Well its not my dd so i am able to take my time on the body work, but i want it to be my dd soon.

After the body there is the interior and lift to take care of, but i need to sell some stuff first since i spent all the money i set aside for this...

last few coats went on last night and i will start color sanding it this afternoon when i get back from LA. Then i should have some photos of it outside tonight or tomorrow... More likely tomorrow because i have to do the black still and re assemble the jeep.
