Thanks in the shifter bracket!!! Yeah I will be adding them to the offerings..! A hemi one as well.

I'll close the hood tomorrow and take a pic if clearance of this intake.

The Hemi ram truck intake adapter clears the hood but you HAVE to run a 1" body lift, but you have to for the Hemi anyways so it's not an issue.

I am going to make a few mods to the crossmember kit and I am clocking the 231c up a few degrees. Just waiting on parts again.

This intake clears the hood no issues. Still waiting on my clock ring before proceeding with that portion.

I did get crazy with the cheez-wiz last night...

Figure it out yet???

New shifter gate for the stock TJ auto shifter. This one was an 03 shifter assembly. I'll work on the shifter cable mount later.

when I was pulling on the 4wd shifter to get the console plastics back in, I found it stiff as heck to move. interesting as it isn't hooked to anything. appears the bushings are most likely all junked up. looks like I will be pulling the 4wd shifter out for a quick clean up/rebuild. perfect. LOL

PICTURE TIME....

4wd shifter rebuild. like i stated earlier, the shifter was stiff and didn't move smoothly. cant have that!


remove the shifter lever by pulling the clip out, then release the spring from the lever. wiggle the shifter out of the main cross shaft.

once the shifter is out, you need to pull the main shaft out. will see the snap ring on the side. remove it.




the shaft was all dirty and rusty. quick clean up on the wire wheels and a coating of grease. slide the bushing back on. one of mine was stuck to the shaft and instead of risking destroying it, I just cleaned it up and coated it.


greased up the other one and re-installed it.


re-installed the reconditioned main shaft, then the shifter. don't forget to put the tension spring on the shaft during the re-installation.


clips in, tension spring attached and ready to go back in the jeep.

Here is more on the shifter re-purpose portion of the project. On the last LS build, the silver tco'd tj, I did this waaaay differently. I took a dremel to the stock TJ shifter gate to create more 'gates and cut it off, raised it, moved it etc... Then for the shifter cable, I cut the stock shifter plate, added a section of plate to extend it so that the gm cable locked in at the proper orientation for travel. Definitely up'ed the game on this one.

I removed the stock TJ cable mounting plate.


I removed the stock TJ cable mount tit and then welded in one that I took off a GM shifter I got off ebay for R&D purposes


clipped on the gm shifter and ... perfect.




set it in the jeep and then found the console mounting tab was in a different spot. sweet. cut it off and re-welded it where I needed it to be.







painted and in the jeep..


quick jump over the cable routing portion... cut a hole in the tunnel...


little bit of rtv on the seal and snapped it in place...



threw the carpet in and after some trimming to the shifter gate trim plate... secured the center console and snapped in the trim plate

I am going to get another 03-06 shifter off ebay etc and duplicate the shifter gate plate again. I wanted to keep this jeep moving along and was doing just that...and yessir, forgot to trace the final revision of the pattern for the new 'gate plate.' anyways I plan on having the cad guy make a cut file for these 'gate plates' as well. just another option out there.... a $30-40 gate plate or a $200 aftermarket shifter?

we got the starter installed, then the trans lines. I made aluminum hard lines for this motor a while back while it was on the ground waiting to go in. they run up to the front of the oil pan, and then switch to push-lock series stuff.

Sooo here it is.... our new fuel pump adapter and fuel system.... this is how to properly get the pressure needed to run the Hemis and GM Ls motors, using your stock pump, basket, pickup tube coupler and pressure spring, and then properly return the fuel where it needs to go in the tank. haven't seen anyone do it like we do. I sure someone has, but not like this...

STAGE 1
dirty pump assembly from the jeep..



pop the retaining clip and then the regulator off












dis-assemble it all..






DO NOT LOOSE THOSE WASHERS IN THE BOTTOM OF THE FUEL BASKET!!! the silver steel washer and the thin rubber washer. those make up the check valve assembly at the bottom of the basket!



cleaned the top part. don't like working on dirty stuff. clean it before you begin!



heres the bottom side of the top plate, the center tube is the stock flow pipe and the openings located where it opens up and forms into the plate are the 'stock fuel return ports.' this is where the stock regulator flows fuel back into the basket... keepin the basket full and keeping the pump cooled. my method regarding the fuel system addresses both these needs.



to install the adapter.. cut this stock pickup/return valve portion off with a dremel, saw blade whatever. try to keep it a smooth, flush cut. cut the protruding portion off, try not to cut into the flat edge.



heres the primary adapter components.... the patent pending adapter, securing nut and [3] vitron washers.



this O-ring seals the adapter to the walls of the top plate.






this adapter seals the lower plane of the adapter to the mounting surface of the top plate. there is a machined stop in the adapter to keep you from over-torque-ing the nut and cracking the plate.



on the bottom side. the flat washer seals the nut to the mounting plane. I will go back and sand the plastic smooth before final assembly. if you cut some deep grooves accidently, sand it smooth, then just run a bead of rtv between the washer and the plastic surface to 'fill' any low spots.







adapter all assembled and installed...




quick comparison between different molds of the stock top plate/flow tube I have come across and then the adapters flow tube...

the return system....

STAGE 2

heres what the bottom of the top plate looks like.


we need mark the spot to locate the return port. I set a Teflon washer up against the ridges and mark center. this location is important as an improperly located port will affect the position of the return tube assembly. once marked, drill a small hole through the top plate.






heres the same washer on the top side... it hits the original lip for the stock regulator.. no big deal, grind it away. then drill the opening to the required diameter.






grab the bulkhead fitting from the kit and install it.




you can see my step bit walked alittle bit during the drill process. I just ground away the ridge alittle and Im back in business.


appears I missed a pic, but you will get the point. re-install the top plate to the empty basket--- leave all the other stuff out at this time. draw a line down the basket in-line with the return port. separate the top and basket. then you will drill to holes at [2] locations on the line.


cut the material out between the 2 holes


put then top and basket back together, you should have this....


now to direct the returned fuel where we want it and need it to go. you will notice I changed my bulkhead fitting. I found the 90* I was looking for. the return tube, when inserted, will sit below and fit between the cardboard top baffle on the stock fuel pump and the inner wall of the basket, if done properly.




install the pick up tube into the slot, then secure it snugly to the bulkhead fitting. you must be able to compress the top plate to the basket, as well as the top plate must be able to extend to its stops. if you can not do either of these required movements, you need to correct your 'slot.'


if everything checks out... take it apart and clean clean clean out your basket of any metal shavings etc.. then re-install all the components.. do not forget the check valve washers!!!

The Tank...

here is the re-purposed and retro-fitted fuel pump assembly re-installed into the stock jeep tank. I have installed [2] runs of fuel line- blue-cool for new fuel, black-for returned fuel- onto my fittings. I installed a -6 AN 90* to 3/8NPT fitting in the top of my fuel pump adapter. I run -6AN for all my systems and -6AN is included in our kits. -6 AN is the equivalent to 3/8" the stock jeep lines are 5/16"





back up she goes! I will update with the rest of the fuel system plumbing in the next few days. I am waiting on a handful of EFI connectors to come in.
