Well it Worked!

I used the stock lights from Betty in the Hemi build so it's down to clear or smoked... 51% smoked

ok so I ordered a set of clear fender lights, they were 20$ cheaper than a set of smoked. My buddy has a can of the spray tint stuff from doing his TJ. I am going to hit the [2] fender lights with that and go with it.

did a little more clean up wiring work today regarding the battery and pdc area. I need to order a spool of 6g cause it appears that I am out LOL.

heres where I made most of my connections to the gm harness, passenger side at the firewall.

then I swapped power supply wires out of the quick relay pack I threw together over the summer to run all the aux lights. streamlined it a bit.
got rid of this

for this, with a remote fuse pod

'crappy cell pic-sorry- but you get the idea

remounted the relay pack and the [2] fuse pods that supply all the power needs for the LS systems

the np231c mega short SYE kit with GM VSS port is on the way. hopefully it shows in the next few days here. I would like to get it installed in the tcase and have it installed up under the jeep, so i can knock out more of the little stuff like 4wd linkage etc and then I can get the rear DS made and the front modified.

well it started with my buddy dropping off a piece of aluminum tube, couple left overs tig'd together. then I got to making the intake. I needed to get 'up and over' the waterneck/upper radiator hose on this LS motor. the orientation is different and makes it a slight more bit of a challenge. no quick shot over to the fender and done in this case.

I needed a spacer to take up the gap between the air filter and the MAF. the 3.5 to4" spacer in the kit was too thick. as the MAF is something like 3.62 or something. anyways, I cut down the stock rubber grommet to what I needed. a spacer.

starting the mock up process..

once I was happy with the position and orientation, I bent a piece of aluminum bar sock then located my mounting holes

made the mounting bracket and got it bolted to the AF and then, mounted the assembly to the fender.

ending up with something like this...

heres the clearance between the AF and the grille support..

now im off to shorten the MAF wires, I cut almost 3+ feet out of that circuit

cleaned up some more of the engine compartment. I have to take care of a few small trinkets and that should be all set-other than fuel lines.

today was np231c SYE install day and work on a cable shifter set up day

enter [1] np231c out of a mid 90's s-10 series. check out the looooong output shaft....

tailshaft extension off

popped the rear case half off. found the common 1.25" chain and further investigation revealed the common chevy 4 planetary gear set. ehh its not the 6 but better than the 3 in the 231J

the short shaft next to the stock shaft

short shaft installed and rear case half back on...

new tailshaft bearing housing installed... do you know how much of a pain in the tail it is to get 200ft torque on a nut, whilst sitting on a bench... lol

the np231c I have, has the same shift pattern as the np231J however, the lever is inverted. it needs to be on the bottom to work correctly with the jeep's 4wd shifter, let alone a push/pull cable shifter.

I grabbed a shift lever off another 231J case I have on the shelf. looks like it would work. I did have to clearance out one of the case ribs alittle...

wanted to angle it in towards the case some. I put it in the vice and gave it a few wacks. when I looked at it, the lever had stress factures where it bent. sweet. I ground them out and threw a bead of weld in.

threw on a spare transmission adapter to start mocking up the cable shifter mount

knocked out the tub side mount for the cable shifter

then a paper template to start....

turns into this... I had to cut reliefs in the bracket where I wanted the bends. I cut it out before I bent it, so if I had tried to bend it in the brake, it would distort the profile because of the removed material. I just ran a bead of weld in the reliefs and good to go...

and a quick test fit...

tomorrow, I am hoping to get the 231C installed up under the tunnel and the tub bracket mounted as well. I am going to order up another shift cable and get that on its way.... I have to do [2] other jeeps.. making the transfer case side bracket for the 545rfe/np231J set up is going to be fun too...

Woo! I've been waiting for your plans on the shifter linkage. I followed your lead and picked up a range rover shifter cable too.

I really like the intake work but is that going to clear the hood? Im running the stock intake from the truck and it comes about an inch away from my hood even with a 1" body lift
