2JZGTE swap in progress

I thought this current project may be of interest over in this forum, so I thought I'd join and share. I'm not much into forums usually, and NAXJA was the first and only other one I joined for Jeeps, but then I saw this one and this project is definitely a street application. For now I'm just gonna link to the original thread, but will continue to update this thread on it's own as this progresses. Thanks.

This project is pending the successful hybridization of the Jeep AW4 and the Toyota 30-40le (A304e) transmissions. We are attempting to transplant whatever parts are needed from a donor AW4 in order to have the Toyota transmission bolt directly up to the NP231, in stock locations. This is being handled by a friend and transmission expert, but it's on his own time; so I'm not rushing it.

I am going to begin tracing and planning the splice points for the integration of the 2J harness into the Jeep this next week. I realize I am going to need to relocate the battery so the charge piping can fit through that corner. I may just go ahead and do that. ECU locations may be able to stay the same. I'll take lots of pics. The previous thread on NAXJA has been mostly R&D up to this point, so you guys may be happy to know the physical/electrical install is finally coming up soon (pending transmission adaption). I for one, can't wait.

This sounds awesome. You going to keep the stock twins or put a nice single on it?

Stock twins for the initial install. I'm looking toward the new Borg-Warners though when it goes single. Ultimate goal here is 400-450 4WD hp... and super RELIABLE.

Battery relocation from the front right side to the rear right side should be happening this weekend. I will document and then post accordingly. Still no word on the transmissions.

Began moving the battery. So far I've run the positive cable. I've ordered a 250A continuous 4-lug common busbar to distribute power up front. Moving the battery itself will be completed when those components arrive.

I have good news. I spoke with my transmission friend, and he said he is 99% sure this is going to work, and also he should have the transmissions back to me in a week or so. Things are about to start speeding up now, I assure you. I'll post pics of the hybrid Jeep/Supra transmission as soon as I have it in my garage.

The good news:
The hybrid transmission is done. It is built and is proven to handle 550+ to the wheels. Modified valve body and more clutches than any Jeep has ever had.

The bad news:
The 2J's turbos are shot. The front one looks like it tried to eat something solid. I'm replacing them with a stock Evo VIII divided single turbo. This will actually be a good upgrade from the crappy stock twins anyway, as I understand. I've got to go through the entire motor. Every piece of rubber is shattering when I touch it. I already have new front and rear mains, cam seals, and valve cover gasket. I will be making an exhaust manifold for it. Purchased the new turbo this morning for $210 shipped (SWEET!). Still need to acquire a new timing belt, water pump, waste gate, blow-off valve, boost controller, and serpentine belt. I am now expecting to do the install during the middle of March.
Come on spring break.

...and my Jeep weighs in at about 3,404 lbs, without me in it. I can only assume that the wiki article that listed curb weight at 3050 was wrong or was referencing a 2WD version, perhaps also the "coupe", lol.
