Start

Current

Bought my 2006 LJ (6 speed) in January of 2014 with 47,144 miles. It was bone stock aside from bumpers and rock rails. I purchased it at a dealership in MD and drove it back to Raleigh, NC. It turns out I'm the third owner. I found the 2nd owner online via Facebook. Was able to get her to friend me by changing my profile picture to a picture of the Jeep and sending a request. Got to talking with her a bit about the Jeep to get some history. She never went off road with it and it's part of the reason she decided to trade it in. She purchased it from a friend of hers who also never took it off road. It's in really good shape. there's some minor surface rust being in MD and all... however, for that are the rust is very minimal. So I have a pretty good platform to start with.

There was a small oil leak when I purchased it, I figured it was the rear main seal and I could take care of it. Other than that it was great working order. So I enjoyed it for a week then I pulled it apart to replace the rear main seal. The leak was no longer dripping on my driveway but there was still a leak.. so I replaced the valve cover gasket and now the leak is completely gone. So it turns out if was leaking in two places.. but not anymore!

Here's a link to my build plan: http://goo.gl/2zCGKS

I'm extremely open to feedback and suggestions.

Note: Sorry for the disorganization early on.. I was updating this first post then ran out of room so had to put the updates inline.. (like I should have from the start)

Thats a good start for sure. Would recommend jks 1 1/4 body lift amazon 125 bucks and for around 100 you could get brown dog 1in lift mounts.I think this is a better use of your money and allow its use for the rest of that massive list. doing a lot of digging into this stuff for my 06 tj rubi

I don't want the extra .25 inch in the lift. That's the main reason I went that way.

However, on the other side of the coin I'm worried about the OME springs sagging with the weight I'm planning to put in here. Wondering if I should go with the 3.5" MetalCloaks

Ended up finding some AEV/Nth Degree 3" Springs in stock and grabbed a set. So they are now sitting around waiting for me to figure out the rest of the parts...

Stole the bumper off my TJ to put on the LJ. Gave the TJ the old monstrosity. Luckily for me the wife doesn't care.

Update 2
Removed the full doors and picked up half doors from a young lady in Greensboro, NC. They are black which is fine with me, and work fine. At some point there are some pieces missing on the interior I'll want to replace/fix.
