This is what I selected,
Dana 30 High Pinion XJ,TJ, ZJ
Add U-bolt Yoke: New U-Bolt Yoke 1310 (+$42.00)
FINISH: Flat Black
Gear Ratio-Reman Unit: D30HP-488 (+$500.00)

- I will be re-using my stock shafts, knuckles and brakes.

Do yourself a favor, have him do the ball joints. Its a PITA. If I could re-order I would have selected that option for $175, its worth it.

Does the hp30 come with used balljoints if you don't select new ones?

Yes, mine came with used ones, but they were no good. I can get a set up upper and lowers for $110, but I also have to rent the tool, so for the $175 its worth it to have them already done.

It's about time you changed your axles! Let me know when you go off-road, and I'll tag along.

Did you go with any lockers in the new axles front and rear or leave them open? I have an ARB to go in the front of my stock d30 that already has 4.88s in it. I was planning on using an Izusu d44 for the back but the housing I have is junk, only paid $50 for the whole axle. And I am thinking of going the 8.8 route now instead. I had bought detroit for the d44 before I knew the housing was junk. So I was thinking of ordering one of these 8.8s already setup like and having a locker put in at the same time.

How has the 8.8 been since putting it in? Notice any issues with the slightly skinny WMS from stock? I see your pick of how close the tire is to the springs. Have you taken it out and wheeled with the new axles? Sorry for all the questions. Want as much info from someone that has done this before spending the coin on it. Thanks for any info I can get.

I left both the HPD30 / 8.8 open. I didn't have the extra cash to do the lockers. I will do those down the road. Though, if I could have re-ordered it I would have opted for the Limited Slip in the 8.8. If you got the cash now I would get a locker and have it done.

I have roughly 800 miles on 8.8 so far. No leak. Changed the diff fluid at 600 miles and no metal or chunks. Everything looked great. I am running 13.50 wide tires with 4" backspacing on the rims. We are running the same rims so you will be fine. I was concerned about rubbing but have had no issues. Obviously if you have a 12.50 wide you will have no issues at all. I can not even notice that the difference in width between the axles.

The guys at ECG really did a amazing job on the welds on the 8.8, the looks flawless and seamless. Every single bracket lined up with out any issues at all. The stock track bar bolted right up and I am running my stock drive shaft and upper control arms with minimal vibes.

I haven't installed the HPD30 yet, waiting on new ball joints for it. But that looks good as well.

Any other questions let me know.

Thanks for the info. I think when I go to order I will go for the full detroit. Do it once and be done if I can. I am even thinking of doing the CCE kit when ordering but that part is still up in the air for me.

Did you go with the used brake parts when you ordered?

Yes used pads and rotors which were fine, plenty of meat left. But I did get new e brake cables and e brake pads. I wanted the stronger shafts for the 8.8 and Chase talked me out of it. Said I didn't need to spend the money because he said hes had people beat on the 8.8 with stock shafts and 36s and never have a problem. Saved me a good $400.

Good to know on the shafts. That is a $540 option I don't need to worry about then. I don't plan on going bigger than 35s anyways. I will definitely go with a full detroit now, used stock shafts and new e-brake shoes with cables.

Would it be better to call when I order and mention the forum or would that make any difference you think on price? I know, should ask Chase that probably.

I didn't bother sending any emails. I just called Chase, told him I was on jeep forum and told him what I wanted. He sent me a invoice, I paid him same day and I had my axles 4 days later.

Installed the HP D30 today. Took about 9 hours, with a few trips to Sear's and Auto Zoo for tools and sockets. Any questions PM me.
