After installing the ORO Led taillights and relocating the license plate to the spare tire it left the 4 license plate holder bolt holes that were really bugging me. I went around and got different quotes to get it repaired and the cheapest I found was $185 :/ My next Idea was black metal corner protectors but I didnt want to have to drill more holes incase I ever wanted to take it off again, so then I remembers the brand that made my vinyl rocker panel guards also made vinyl corder guards so I called up quadratec and ordered a pair for $29.99 with free shipping! After waiting 3 weeks because they were on back order they finally showed up!

The install was pretty easy just like my rocker panel protectors, and so far im happy with how it looks and no more holes to look at everyday

Before:
Holes under the left tail light.

Operation Aussie!

I finally Decided it was time for a front locker to help me out on the trail. After hours of research I decided to order a Aussie Auto Locker for my Front Dana 30. I went with the XD-13027 and found a great deal for one here on the jeep forum classifieds! (man I love those haha)

I used the instructions from 4x4xplor.com and they walked me threw step by step of the install. http://www.4x4xplor.com/aussielocker.html
Taking the carrier out was much harder then and instructions or any way We could find on line and the only method that finally worked was to use a ratchet strap around the carrier back up to the frame (make sure to hook it to the jeep its self or else you will pull it off the jackstands) and then cinching it as tight as it could possible go, (even compressing the springs as it went) and then using the pry bar and hammer after that and even will all that tension it bearly slid out.
After that the rest of the install went pretty smooth and its all in and working!
[IMG][/IMG]
and yes even with the 85W 140 gear oil it sure ckicks when you make a sharp turn to remind you its there so I named it Mr. Clickly So far I havnt noticed it at all in 2WD and it seams to pass all the test to be working.
I cant wait to go hit the trail and test the locker out!

Quick Disconnects!

After always having to clip up and store my disconnects and then the clip braking and having to use zip ties and rope the last two times ive gone wheeling I decided it was finally time to come up with a permeant solution to keep them out of the way.

Heres the Parts I used
  • 1- 1/4" threaded tubing from lowes about 6" long "in the hardware section"
  • 2- 1/4" Nuts
  • 2- 1/4" standard washers
  • 2 -1/4" extra wind washers
  • 2- 1/4" Wingnuts
  • Tap and Dye loaner set from auto zone
  • and a 1/4" drill bit

Mm plan was to drill a 1/4" hole into my frame then use a tap and thread it in order to insert my rod into then slide the quick disconnects on and tighten them up.

Once I got down to start I noticed that by removing the stock wrangler plastic front swaybar cover it left the two holes that the swaybar cover drilled into the frame and they were exactly 1/4"! Its always nice when something goes easier then planned because it sure doesnt happen very often!

Heres a picture of what the hole looks like left over from the swaybar cover removed

Now that the hole was all ready there threaded and ready to use I cut two 3" pieces off of the threaded tubing (NOTE if your disconnects are wider then mine were you will need to cut off a bigger piece) and threaded about an inch into the frame then slipped the normal washer on then tightened it to hold on with the 1/4" nut

then with that secured I slipped on my quick disconnects and then slipped on the large washer to hold it in place and then threaded on the wing nut so I can do it by hand on the trail.

Worked great and was only about $4 from lowes!

Operation Fender Flare-o!

After I got my 33's with my ION 174 rim backspacing I had to get wider fender flares in order to be legal here in utah. I liked the look of the pocket style flares but I didnt want to spend all the money on a set of flares. I found some new flares on ebay for $200 less then the bushwhackers so I ordered them but after a year they started to just fall apart so that was a waste!
They were a super cheap thin plastic that would crack from the screw holes when the tires would rub against them and they were warping and really wavy from the sun so bad I could see in between them and my jeep body and mud would spray right threw.

Before:

So I decided it was time for some new ones! My Buddy got the bushwacker flat fares for his XJ and I really liked the look of those so I found a great deal on some from streetsideauto.com and I ordered a set.

(picture from Jerry B install thread)

They fit great and I really like how they look! They are super sturdy and I and REALLY happy with how they install and mount with all the screws hidden.

Install

They also came with orange side LED markers for the flares to replace the side factory marker light but I have got rid off all the red and orange from my jeep with clear marker lights and black LED tail lights so I really didnt want to add the orange plastic back on. I went around to all the different truck and lighting stores in town but i couldnt find any clear with amber LED diodes that were thin enough to fit in the factory bushwacker flare cut out. I talked to bushwacker and they only carry the orange so I called the light manufacture who referred me to a website online ledtrailerlights.com who is a jeep guy they said that could order them from them (the manufacture) and so I called him up and they send me a set. I got them in and installed them and I am SO happy with the clear version. I super glad I waited for them to come in.

Clear Lights:

ALL DONE!

Here is how the story begins:
May 2009: Every kids most anxious birthday is there 16th birthday when they have the opportunity to learn and start to drive. Just like everyone other teenager I couldn't wait until I turned 16. The day had finally come and I could now receive my drivers license, I was so excited!! After receiving my drivers license my parents gave me the privilege to drive our 2003 Jeep Wrangler! My dad had bought the Jeep new right of the lot to use to get around the housing development projects he was working on but once the housing market crashed the poor thing was just sitting there waiting for someone to drive it! I have always loved to be out exploring new places and a jeep was perfect for that, I was so excited and I couldn't have asked for anything better! I started driving my jeep to school as soon as my junior year started. My best friends would always joke around and tease me on how small and stock my jeep was so after some convincing I started to look around for some new bigger tires. I found a deal on some new 31 10.50 r15 BFG All-Terrains and that when the addiction hit!
After that it just hasnt stopped and my Jeeps been growing up slowly but surely when ever I make some extra cash Its defiantly been a fun project threw out high school and now in college and will be in the future!

I like it a lot! Your giving me some pretty good ideas actually (I was kinda on the fence about the flat fenders, but I like the way they look even more now!)

Btw where did you get the rocker guard and the rear quarter panel guard? they look awesome as well.

Yea I really like the look of the Flat style and I have been really happy with them so far! I ordered the rear quarter panels and the rocker guards from quadratec.com they are actually a textured vinyl material so that I didnt have to drill in to the body which I really like and its easy to take it off if I ever want to. Here are the links
