Alright, so here it goes.
I just picked up a 2000 XJ on Monday of last week. 130K miles and the price was right. It is bone stock and now it is time to build it. I have already purchased a Zone 3" lift (AAL). Even though it is <30 degrees outside and i dont have heat in my garage, i have already started the work. It is hard to get more than an hour here and there as I have 1 year old that requires a lot of time. Taking off the rear shocks, I busted two of the bolts. this appears to be a common issue, so now it is time to drill and tap....unless anybody has a better idea?

More to come as time permits.

Okay. One drill bit, one Dremel wheel and ten minutes is all it took to get the bolts out. Now it is time to drop the leaf springs and throw in the AAL. Pictures will hopefully soon follow.

It is nice to work on this XJ. After getting rid of my TJ a little over year ago, I have had he itch for sure.

Another two hours logged tonight and finally feel like there is some success. I have the passenger side done (minus the shock). Hopefully the weather warms up a bit more and I can continue to get some work done.

Sorry about that.
I was able to the broken upper shock mounting bolts out and replaced. My 3"Zone lift gave me just over 4" in the back. Good thing seeing as there was about an inch of sag going into the project.

I was also able to get the wiper pump replaced thanks to a few threads from here. So a big thanks to everybody for being so helpful.

I have big problem now that I am working on the front and hope you can help again. The bolt connecting the drag arm to the passenger side busted off last night! It is stuck about half way in. I can't drop the arm to get access to it either. Any suggestions?

After not working on the XJ for a week, I am happy to report that I was able to get the drop link off. It is amazing how slow he progress is without an air compressor and only using good old fashion muscle. Hopefully I can sell my Honda CBR to get some more cash and order my tires and wheels. Anybody interested in buying a bike?

So I finally was able to put a little more time into the XJ last night. Got the lift al buttoned up. Now it is time for the sway bar disconnects and the T-Case drop. On another note though, I had previously order the M/T Sidebiters and MTZ's from Desert Rat. They are both on back order and I wasn't given any info on when they might be available again. After thinking about it I called around a little and found out that it is an issue at M/T and best case scenario put me waiting until possibly June. The guys at Zone Offroad were AWESOME to work with and I ordered the Classic II Black with the MTZ. Oh yeah, and I will have them by the weekend!

Kudos to Zone Offroad!

That looks great! I love the 4 door xj's. Do you have any other plans for it?

No doubt. Thats the best way to learn what you need to do. But once you start, its hard to stop building it up haha

That's a pretty good idea. Hadn't really given much thought to skid plates. Now I got some research to do.
