Drove her for the first time in two months. It's amazing.

Got pics of her today:

Front diff is getting rebuilt soon, hopefully along with a 242 t-case. After that, it gets a new catalytic convertor and muffler. I'm going with a Magnaflow set; 94039 cat and 12589 muffler.

Got some pics the other day at a local warehouse property.

Nope. Didn't have the skid/tow hook package. Got them for my 96 and swapped them over to this one.

No lift, but lots and lots of creature comforts and little upgrades. Basically keep her as nice as I can for as long as I can. I wanna have the 5.9 with the most miles on the clock. That's my goal.

Thursday, I took care of some rust spots on the under-body. Friday, undercoated/painted the rear wheel wells. Washed, vacuumed, and polished a bunch of scratches/dull spots in the paint. Looks much better, especially the front bumper. I didn't think it would shine up, but it matches up with everything else now. Gotta do the hatch tomorrow and the other half of the hood.

Tomorrow, I'll give it a coat of wax, and paint the front wheel wells black. (ran out of undercoating)

Thanks. Yeah, eventually. Like all things, it will come with time. The mechanical-side of the Jeep has been behaving (more a less), so I've been working on a lot of visual things. (Rust, cleaning up the paint, painting things, etc.)

Got the Jeep buffed and waxed these last two days. Got around to painting the front wheel wells black.

Cleaned up the garage and got around to putting this on...

Long time no post in here.

Nothing much has changed but that's going to change soon. Trans still leaks like a siv, but when the tcase goes in, the trans is getting pulled (FML) and oil pump seals and gaskets are getting replaced. I'm looking forward to NOT smelling burnt trans oil (flys from dust plate to downpipe and burn-i-fies) after a long drive.

Picked up my new window regulator and swapped the old motor to it. If you do this, be careful with the spring! Re-glued the clear and black plastic covering to the door with 3M Super 90 (normally used for headliner).

Got the 242 torn down and ready for cleanup and complete overhaul. Ended up twisting off a bit getting the roll pin out. We tried to pry the forks out before it broke but couldn't get it. For some reason, AFTER we broke the bit, things were aligned just right to where we could pull the mode fork out. We then pulled the rail and range fork, pounded out the roll pin and got everything apart. Everything looks pretty good, but wear items will get replaced to be on the safe side.

The chain, however, is a different story... see video.

Next up... 3" magnaflow cat, 3" flowmaster 50 suv, 3" to 2.5" (for downpipe to cat) reducer, and NGK oxygen sensors. Fully welded and painted system utilizing the stock tailpipe. I may get rid of the kinked area on the tailpipe, but I'll for sure do the one on the downpipe.

Repair update...

Nelle's had a nasty misfire issue since last weekend. It got so bad on the way home from the Muse concert (badass), that it was literally jerking me around on the interstate. After misfiring for 4 days, it finally gave me Cylinder 7 Misfire. Pulled the plug for cyl7 and found that the silicon grease was burnt. The wire had been arcing from the terminal to the plug. After learning that, I pulled all the plugs, regapped, and regreased all the terminals.

I checked the wire for resistance...no continuity...AND IT'S A 6 MONTH OLD WIRE!! Going to NAPA in the morning to get some things exchanged. One of my hatch struts is falling apart. The piece that holds the rod to the bracket on the hatch has lost its fastener. The rivet is coming out and could slide out and break the glass any time now.

In pulling the plugs, I found some oil/burnt fuel on the threads of the plugs, 4-5 of them actually. This leads me to believe that the plenum pan has gone bad. Looks like I'll be fixing that soon.

First pic is of plug 7. I thought that looked weird when I pulled that...
2 and 3 are of the oil thing I was talking about. There was a little bit of oil on a couple and about the same amount as in the pics of the rest.

Time for another update. Got fresh seals, bearings, pads, etc for the 242 as well as a brand spankin' new chain.

Got Kolak's Euro headlight conversion for Christmas. It's a very nice kit and despite some damaged boxes, everything arrived safely. He even included new clips. Very cool. Should be installing it within the next couple of days.

I'll be putting up a "Kolak Euro Headlight Conversion for Dummies" writeup on the forum when I finish it. Will include all required steps as well as beam pattern shots from before and after.
