Spent the evening in the garage trying to find the cause of my rough, low 300-500rpm surge and possibly why I am getting 6 miles to the gallon on 31's (if you can call a single car apartment stall half full of toolbox and crap a garage) Current temp 26 degrees.
This First picture of the engine bay shows 2 issues I found Both vacuum lines. The small one was broken clean and wrapped with duct tape that crumbled when I took it off, Fixed with heat shrink.
The second was closed off with electrical tape and I cannot figure out where she should be going..
Either way, after that and cleaning out the throttle body as well as I could leaving it connected and a slight adjustment of the idle screw she is purring a nice 775+-
Also found a mystery (to me) ground that had a section or wire about 20" wired into it very poorly with butt connectors so I removed and soldered the wires back together. I need to find a diagram for my relay centers and fuse panel. Its looking pretty gnarly down there and I dont know where to get started
I fixedthatvacuu m leak and the idle calmed right down. Replaced rear CCV grommet and she runs great. put 4 gallons in and have gone 35 mi and barely moved the needle to Ill update when i get a milage reading
I picked up some seafoam tonight, Ive been told to put 1/3 in the gas tank, 1/3 in the oil, and final 1/3rd I was not told where to put it. I have used the vacuum line to the brake booster in the past but the is no brake booster on the Jeep.. Afet 50 miles I will change the oil and throw in some Oil stabilizer.
SO I have been driving it all week to work and back. Before I fixed the vacuum leak and the grommet I was getting about 6 mpg. Now after fixing the vacuum and taking a rag to the TB to clear all the crap off. I averaged 14 this week and didnt hesitate to romp a few laps through our make shift mud slide on the way to work. Pushing 31's I am assuming thats pretty decent?
Picked up a CB at walmart that will fit in the overhead garage door opener slot. I will do a write up when I get started. I am trying to do more to the outside, but since Im still stuck in the snow Ill be tackling the inside first.
Stripped the EEP and ordered a new blacked out one. It looks good naked. Thinking about taking all the original badges off but curious to know if the side 'CHEROKEE' and the rears have the holes though the metal too. Someone has done some painting to the Jeep in its early rears because I have HUGE gouges from someone having taken off them off, J included so I know it wasn't from me taking the rest off.
Well since I have been under a storm advisory for a few inches of snow and stuck below freezing all weekend I skipped changing fluids and was stuck doing cosmetic stuff. CB still in the box, Lights haven't been delivered yet and haven't located a welder to do my floor pans yet.
I decided to begin blacking everything out, starting with the grill and headlamp bezels.
1000 grit wetordry and some Rustoleum Camo Black non-reflective paint
Its starting to warm up here in the Great White North.
Bought a 4x4" 1/4" steel tubing and drilled the holes and attached it to the stock bumper mounts. Painted flat back and will be mounting the CB antenna and some lights.
Finaly got my lights from China. 27W LED spot beams for $23 each (shipping included). They look great and since I was skeptical about their quality so I only ordered the front spots. Now I have to wait another month to get 4 flood beams for the roof.
Finally got a break in this ice weather and got some dirt to throw around
Got my LED lights from china and got them hooked up. Got them wired to the stock fog lamp harness but I need to figure out a way to wire up both light so they arent sharing power (one shines brighter alone than both) Got a chance to seal the hole in my drivers side floor pan
So after some research and not being able to figure out how to rewire my fog lights to have constant power as opposed to needing my head lights on I just purchased 4 40A relays with harnesses ($2 ech), 2 new 36W Epistar LED light bars from Hanma auto. $32 A PIECE!! SCORE. Shipping is costing 45 but hey its direct from the manufacturer, that is still half the price of buying them from anyone else. Powering these puppies will be an 8 fuse distribution block ($14) which my current lights will get wired through.
