1990 Jeep Wrangler YJ

So to start I'll give a little background information. Bought this bad boy when I was 16 for my first vehicle. A 1990 jeep wrangler yj for $4500. Not more than a year later I found out one of the piston heads had cracked and the motor needed to be rebuilt or replaced. Bought a brand new Jasper crate motor to replace the previous 4.2 straight 6. Tore apart the front clip, replaced the motor and got everything running like clockwork. A couple years later I decided I was ready to start tearing everything back apart to restore/upgrade the jeep. I'll walk you through everything I did, I could have taken more pics but I still have quite a few.

Next, out came the roll bar and after removing some stubborn body mount bolts, the tub was lifted off. With two men it was a little difficult to get the tub off.

After needle scaling the frame and axles, painting them, and putting the new BDS 3.5" lift with new shocks she started to take shape again. Put the gas tank back in it, and bought some 33" master craft coursers from a buddy and threw them on.

Got to work cutting out the firewall. Used a piece of cardboard to trace the firewall from the original tub and convert it to the fiberglass. This method worked surprisingly well.

Started to put the body onto the frame and line everything up. This was a pain in the rear. Got it fit together nicely though!

After this was done, it was torn back apart and sent into a local paint shop for an orange crush finish. While this was going on we painted up the roll bar with some bedliner.

Without hesitation the beast started going back together. Put in some new speakers in the rear in-between the roll bar and wheel well. Also put the rest of the rear bumper on. Brand new seats were set too.

Put in the new auto meter jeep gauges. The wiring was a nightmare because we were going from the gauge cluster to individual gauges. They look amazing though, the headaches were definitely worth it.
