Ordered the clutch kit last night, $181 with two day shipping. I think thats a good deal. It comes with the clutch disc, pressure plate, slave cylinder, pilot bearing and alignment tool.

I also wirewheeled my skidplate/crossmember to get it ready to go back on because it was kind of rusty. I am doing the rest of the little rust that is on the bottom tomarrow and then I am spraying it with the rust preventive paint. I picked up several cans of it tonight.

I am also really debating weather or not I should take my trac bars out or not. I have heard only good things but I think Im going to give it a try and see how it feels.

i like the idea.. i will be crawling this thread. anyway, since you are putting in a new clutch, slave and pressure plate, i would recommend putting in a new master, or else you may find yourself doing so in a few months.

Thanks for the tip, Im sure it will get replaced but as of right now I am scraping by to get this one on the road because my cherokee needs a few things and Im still driving it every day. So hopefully I am putting this one on the road early next week. Thats why I got two day shipping on the clutch, that way I can have it in by the end of the weekend.

As soon as I am finished with school (the 28th) I am going back to full time at my job and I can get much more done!

Thats sweet, I sent a request to someone to do a XJ with the explorer paint job like that. If you end up doing it that would be awsome.

And I almost made a club last night but decided not, now that I know other people are interested I made one.

Hey, I'm doing a JP Jeep too.
Boomerjinks (the one you photoshopped with Rapter Security) and Cyrix9445 by far have the best. Take a look at the threads here,
http://www.jplegacy.org/board/forumdisplay.php?f=21

I'm Jeepasaurus. Starting with an '89 Laredo hardtop and full hard doors. Planning on using #25, keeping close to the movie jeeps but not exact. I'm going to have to paint mine too.

So today I assentialy did what I wanted to. I was able to sand down and paint the passenger side frame (almost all of it), I sanded and painted my dust cover and skid plate, I wired and mounted boath rear speaker pods, finished wiring the radio, and sanded and painted the front floor of the tub.

The frame only had minor surface rust and the undercoating on the tub is still in great condition so Im not even touching that. The passenger floor had a little surface rust and the driver is a little bit more rusted over by the second drain hole and just overall, I will problably end up welding a new one in when I paint give it the Jurassic paint job. It is plenty sturdy enough for now, I was stomping on it just to be sure.

Some pictures to give you an idea of what I got done, excuse the quality, my digital camera is out of bateries right now.

I want to have the clutch in by then end of this comming weekend.

Clutch came in but its going to rain for the next two days or so. Im hoping to have it in by saturaday night.

I also got in touch with someone who is going to make me the proper decals and I am going to talk to him about the "raptor security" decals for the hood too.

Got some sahara seats on my ebay watch too.

more updates soon.

I'm considering getting a Kargomaster cage. It looks like the windshield portion is close to the Mopar unit. I believe a light mounting plate like the one Cyrix fabricated, could be mounting it. Paint the windshield portion red, and the rest black or maybe blk w/ yellow warning type stripes. Would need to figure out mounting of the rear fog lights.

Havent really done much else since I got the clutch in. I got the spedometer working again. that was easy I just had to spin the end that goes in the transfer case a quarter or half turn (I forget which).

I went to the parts store and got two new v belts, so now it doesnt squeal like a pig any more. (one of the belts was a factory american motors belt )

I also sent out a couple emails on rims.

I beleive that it is going on the road friday and I am taking my Cherokee off for the summer. (I need to replace the rocker panels in my cherokee and do new hubs)

I went to the parts store again and got the final things that I needed before I put it on the road tomorrow. I got the air filter because a mouse decided to make a home in my air box and the filter was brown and chewed.

Then I needed winshield wipers because the actuall wiper rubber was gone (no surprise), and when putting the new ones on I succesfully broke one of the clips. Then I spent 15 minutes with my brother discussing why jeep didnt just move the wipers over a couple inches so that they could go all the way down on the winshield.

I definitely like where this is heading...for some odd reason I thought I was the only one who wanted to do this, those Jeeps are sweet!

Good luck on the build! Oh, is there any copyright infringement to worry with?? Just curious...
