1988 2dr XJ project

So I bought a jeep after getting back from Afghanistan as a little project for myself. I've never done a build of any kind before so this should be fun.

current mods (when i bought it): 31x10.5 tires, a 2in suspension lift, tire carrier w/spare, and a custom front bumper with KC lights. also, the fenders were cut out and new flares were added.

so far i've added the surco roof rack with gutter mounts. i just got my tuff country 3.5in lift in the mail so hopefully next week it will be installed.

edit: pics!

HELL YEAH! Another 2 door. Man I can't wait to watch you build this thing. I bought mine in similar shape, and it has come along nicely. Looks great already, but it's gonna look worlds better once you get it under the knife.

finally got the lift on this thing. a lot of problems since i bought it. installed a new brake master cylinder and power booster, all new brake lines, a new electric fan, new thermostat and new thermostat housing. phew. so its finally out of my buddys garage. i did a couple little things too, like a small rubber antenna, fire exstinguisher, and a maglite mount. i'll get more pics up if you want to see all of it but i just wanted to post the lift pic for now. what a difference!

just went to a junk yard today, pulled a soundbar with speakers, hood vents off an old Nissan, and a grab handle off a Land Rover Discovery. i also found a jeep pioneer w/ the venting rear windows and a manual sun roof i'm debating on picking up this weekend...

added the hood vents yesterday. you can see on the right side the vent isnt flush. thats cause we need a shorter bolt. see pics below.

to do this we just used a cut out saw and traced the outside line of the vent. then we just eyed where we thought the hole should be and kept cutting til they fit. took about 30min once we started cutting.

right side under the hood. here we didnt account for the hood release so we had to cut the bolt down about 1/4" and it was the biggest pain in the *** getting the nut on there.

left side under hood
