1960 Palamaba Willys

Well ended up getting a screaming deal on this Wagon and I've wanted one for quite some time so I picked it up. It's a 1960 with a factory hydraulic plow (most likely leaving) and 4wd. It has all the seats and the Super Hurricane engine to boot. Sure it has rust but this will be a restoration to bring it back to stock status, no cutting or boggers here.

Anyway here is a picture to start this soon to be long documentary...

Thanks!

As for the welding, I hear that. Most of the cab will need to be replaced as well as the fenders. But i will be picking it up on Thursday so I'll grab more pictures of it for you guys!

Alright I have pictures and a question to start. Can anyone direct me to a website that reveals what the VIN number off this Willys would stand for? Or were these just serial numbers?

This '60 is strange, it has a two-piece windshield...

I read the title and thought "Oh no, he's going to cut it up." But thankfully that's not the case! I look forward to this restoration.

Never, it's a joke on the place where it is from. Has a nickname that makes me smile every time.

But here are more pictures as promised!

First here is me with my Wagon, newly purchased and about to roll out.

Here is the interior, basic would be an understatement.

And finally the trailer along with Dad and me that we loaded the Wagon on (the Jeep had no brakes but it was able to pull itself onto the trailer with a lot of skinny pedal, engine needs to be rebuilt!)

Yep I'm aware, I know the OP and just became aware of this sad and neglected build thread Maybe there will be some updates now that I'm setting high expectations... but otherwise lots of potential for greatness

Thanks for the reinforcement Brad. I'll be adding updated pics and story tomorrow. Been a busy time here lately for this little guy.

I had one almost identical to yours back in early 70's. Ended up trading it for a 65 Wagoneer with a Meyers plow on it. Wish I'd kept it and about a hundred others since then.

So here is a brief update for now, more to come. I drove 4000 miles round trip to get a new body, fenders, and grill along with miscellaneous parts for this bad boy. The body on the original is shot and would be a nightmare to repair due to extensive rust not only to body panels but floor pans, supports, cross-members, etc. Remember this Jeep spent it's whole life in the Wisconsin salt belt and it shows. So anyway all of that has been retrieved and is now living in my garage (currently my JK is getting some body work done but that's a separate nightmare in and of itself).

On to the pictures! I loaded up my lil JK with 4 people, bags, tools, and took a snowmobile trailer to ID. Here are the results!

First arriving, used an old but steady forklift with no brakes to load it up:

Finally onto the trailer:

And of course some awesome ID scenery on the way home.

It was a long trip but very memorable taking my parents and little brother to retrieve it. Stopped and saw the Little Bighorn and the Hole in the Wall battlefields. We are kind of Western nuts.

Next update, start the tear down of the original wagon.

So yesterday morning I was finally able to get the plow off my Willys. It was an OEM plow and hydraulic pump and I decided against restoring it in favor of an original PTO winch. To say getting the plow off was easy is an understatement. My Dad and I used our Dodge 2500 and the ol' fire wrench to accomplish this feat. This thing has seen service on a farm forever and most bolts broke but had to be wallowed out a little and punched through the frame in order to remove the mount.

First off with the plow, just a few pins and it slid right off:

Next was the mount, we had to use an old tow rope and a lot of Dodge 360 power:

And here it is all removed, I have it listed on Craigslist and if anyone wants it here, let me know. Fits all years of Wagons and Trucks. Comes with the pump too.
