I was woke up by a neighbor at 2am Sunday morning who told me it was on fire. The only good thing out of the deal is that I was going to move it into the garage a couple days earlier to work on it but got busy and never did it. I would of lost a hell of a lot more than just a jeep. The fire investagator came back yesterday to look at it again and said it was an electrical fire that started in the dash. He's going to try and stop by my station when I'm on duty tomorrow and tell me more. I know that the front axle, both front wheels, RF tire and front bumper are still good, still debating on the tiny spot on the LF tire. Hoping the rear wheels, 14b, transmission and the dana 300 are still good cause I'll probably put it all under my LJ.

Few more pics....

I'd do new bearings and seals in the 14bolt... but other than that, what could be damaged?

The bearings are probably fine, just need to be repacked. New seals is probably a good idea.

The engine is salvageable at least. Probably needs the head looked through and the seals and bearings done.

There is 20lbs of copper in your alternator! The fire probably melted or stripped most of the insulation off the wiring. Might be able to scrap it.

Unless he replaced them when he built the axle the first time, they are old...might as well just replace them instead of bothering to re-pack.

The fire could've messed up the races too.

Man ... Speechless ... Just saw your jeep ... Read your whole thread from the start ... I need a beer ....;$&!?()'mm..... Man that sucked .. Only one thing yo do ... Get a new xj ... Take what you learned and make the next one way sicker, and you can start a fresh build, and each build is always better than the last

Everything got scraped except the axles. There will be another project one day but no clue when as I'm going through a nasty divorce.
