Pros: Low price, great sound, component quiality, not power hungry, easily mounted in TJs
Cons: Not worth amping
Comments: This is the speaker I used to replace my front 4x6" speakers in my TJ. Using an adapter bracket, this speaker goes right in.
At 40W RMS, it's a little more than the stock unit can control, but it should be fine running off of any aftermarket headunit just fine. Keeping the sound level in check, I'd say the stock headunit will be okay, too.
What I like about this unit is how the tweeter is mounted. It's basically a component set because the tweeter isn't mounted through the dust cap of the woofer -- it's mounted directly over the center of the woofer cone by a bridge-like mount. This meants the tweeter doesn't interfere with the woofer's cone travel, with very good off-axis response because of it's center point mounted system. The small crossover is mounted on the back of the speaker near the terminals.
The tweeter can also be aimed vertically -- I have mine pointed all the way "up" at about 40 degrees. This helps with elevating the soundstage to the listener's ears.
Overall, a very good sounding speaker at under $100/pair.
