Price: $299.00 Pros: Able to talk to someone without any static or someone talking over me. Cons: expense Recommended? Yes
Comments: I bought the Ham radio because my club members are purchasing them and we found out that its a much better way of communicating. We have thousands of trails here in the Desert, but there're out in the middle of nowwhere and it comes in handy when you have a radio where you can communicate with someone who is 50, 60 or 100 miles away.

Price: $250.00 Pros: 50W on VHF, 40W on UHF, 1000 Memory Channels, Rugged, Remote Mount Face. Cons: Single VFO, no X-band Repeat. Typical "Hold this, press that, do this and that" programming of Yaesu Radios. Recommended? Yes
Comments: The FT7800 is a great dual band rig for those wanting a single VFO radio. Excellent Audio, great receiver, and at the time, a good price.
Can be programmed with CHIRP, too.

Price: $200.00 Pros: has the remote mountable display and is a multiband transceiver Cons: the speaker is not very loud and is mounted in the main body so you have to get an external speaker if mounting the body away from the head such as in a waterproof box Recommended? Yes
Comments: my dad bought this for me to put in my first jeep and i have since moved it twice to other vehicles and now it resides in my current jeep very easy to install and operate once you get the basics down. it has plenty of power to get out to other radios even when cellphones dont work which is great the speaker though small and not very loud is very clear so if you can hear it you can understand people if they are talking clearly

Price: $250.00 Pros: Small profile. Mic connects to head unit Cons: Not the best intermod rejection Recommended? Yes
Comments: Well built, simple to program but the only con is I get intermod in areas with a lot of commercial VHF/UHF traffic.

Price: $270.00 Pros: remote mounting, mic plug is on the face unit Cons: not a true dual band Recommended? Yes
Comments: If you are like me, I like to bring all of my hobbies into one. I am a ham radio operator and love the outdoors and playing around with my jeep. This is a great radio if you don't mind using only one vfo at a time. This is a VHF and UHF radio with 50 watts of power on VHF. I have the radio set up with a remote mount. I have the radio face unit on a suction cup mount on the windshield and the body of the radio mounted under my seat. This works out great for the limited space in a jeep.

Price: $224.10 Pros: Easy to use, has relocation kit, dual band, 5 memory banks, great receive. Cons: When the radio is cold, it transmits a growling noise on high power. The problem only lasts for a minute. During the summer months it doesn't do it. I know quite a few people that have exact same problem. Also the stock speaker is very tinny sounding, but sounds great with an external speaker. Recommended? Yes
Comments: Even with the small quirks, I'd still buy another one.
