Price: $1,479.00
Pros: Design, reliability, looks, line speed... What's not to like!
Cons: Close mount to my TJ grill and blocks several of the grill vents. For some possibly the size and weight.
Recommended? Yes

Comments: Wanted this winch for fifteen years and after running XDs and the ti I finally splurged because Warn was offering a two hundred dollar rebate.

Pros: Best winch ever made for about $2000 less than Warn sells it for!
Cons: Probably too good of a winch... And probably limits cooling capacity, but who cares about staying cool?
Recommended? Yes

Comments: Been looking for one of these babies used for about 2 years now. Finally found one at a price I liked!

Price: $200.00
Pros: 30+ years old and still works fine, so you tell me.
Cons: Heavy and blocks airflow
Recommended? Yes

Comments: Older 8274 picked up off CL for cheap. Needed lots of cleaning, and someone had decided to run grease inside rather than the intended oil. Lot's of fun cleaning the grease out!

Cons: Sits high on my TJ, but I haven't experianced and cooling problems.

Pros: Reliable High Speed work horse. Can still get parts to repair.
Cons: upright profile is harder to find mounts for and obscures more of the grill opening
Recommended? Yes

Comments: I bought this winch used many many years ago for a couple hundred bucks. It has been throught three vehicles and and an extended period of non-use sitting outside. With a couple of relays, a few maintenace pieces and some clean up time, it's working great and hopefully good to go for another 10-15 years.

Pros: Fast, holds lots of cable
Cons: large, takes special mounting plate
Recommended? Yes

Comments: Purchased used. Works great for the jeep. Running a single Red top Optima with it so I need to add a 2nd battery to get full potential.

Pros: Speed, reliability
Cons: none

Comments: This winch works great. It is very fast under no load, and works flawlessly. It is an older model, probably mid 80s. But it still works great.

Comments: I installed the Warn 8274 not the 8274-50. I bought it from a guy parting out a 1973 CJ-7 and the winch came on the CJ from the dealer, and says on it "Jeep Stock Special Equipment" Its 30 something years old and still running.

Warn M8274-50
Pros: Fast wind speed, 10+years of maintenance free use
Cons: physical size (blocking front radiator)
Recommended? Yes

Comments: I actually have the 8274, not the -50, and it still works AMAZING. NEVER a hickup with it's performance, even using a stock battery.
