Price: $540.00
Pros: Fast & Powerful
Cons: Price
Recommended? Yes

Comments: Build quality seems to be good and the winch is fast and powerful.
Was aware when I purchased that I would need to order the solenoid mounting bracket separately; it should have been included. The mounting bracket is designed to be mounted with only one bolt. The single alen-head bolt that threads into the aluminum rod (that crosses the top of the winch) is what is used to hold this bracket. The problem arises when you tighten the bolt enough to keep the solenoid box from moving when plugging the cable in/out… is… you strip the aluminum threads. I solved the problem by installing GARDSERT threads in both side of the rod and then using grade 8 bolts to tighten. Warn could eliminate the issue by redesigning the mounting bracket to use two bolts, or using a better material in the rod.
I am happy with the product so far.

Price: $570.00
Pros: Didn't break the bank getting a winch that will last
Cons: Control box cables are way too short and warn does not provide any mounting hardware.
Recommended? Yes

Comments: What can you say about a warn winch. You get what you pay for but you also pay a little extra for the name. They could do a better job making the control box waterproof and give us the D*** mounting hardware. Most of us know by now that you just use a U-bolt plate. I have they not figured that out.

Comments: Had to replace several components which were several solinoids, a motor, and a clutch assembly all at different times. it has fulfilled its duty though and doesn't fail when under load pulled everything out that i had thrown at it.

Price: $550.00
Pros: Easy install and good instructions
Cons: Had to purchase solenoid bracket as separate item
Recommended? Yes

Comments: I have had my M8000 installed for 18 months now and been through many uses of it. Most to help others out and 4 or 5 to help myself up and over obstacles. I have never seen it overheat or wimp out. I do keep the engine running for any extended winching to keep battery and voltage/amps up. For the price, this is a big bang for the bucks. I have never had to test the warranty yet - but others have said it is good to go. The only thing I may do is replace cable with synthetic line.

Comments: Not had the occassion to use it yet, but appears to be all I need/want. Hopefully, I will use it only to pull OTHERS out. With Detroits at both ends, it will have to get pretty bad for me to stop moving, but never say never!

Warn M-8000
Pros: Dependable EVERY time needed.
Cons: Solenoid wires too short to put soleni=oid under the hood.
Recommended? Yes

Comments: Bogged myself knee deep in mud, had my doubts....but true & dependable, pulled me out no problems. Used three times since I put it on this past March (2008), impressed me every time. Looked at Mile Marker, Tabor, T-Max, and a few others when looking to purchase...every review always pointed back to WARN. Pay a bit more, but dependable EVERY time. Warranty fantatsic too, Lifetime Warranty (except electrical 1 year).
