Pros: The price is right and the service from them is great.
Cons: The closed relay pack is the only downfall.

Comments: The price and company backing is great (thanks Ray at smitty). In general by far best winch for the money for the weekend wheeler.

Price: $299.00
Pros: Solid construction.
Cons: Selector lever had to be replaced out of the box. Slow free-spool.
Recommended? Yes

Comments: Haven't really got a chance to put it to the test yet. Seems to be a quality piece of equipment for the price. Less than half of a Warn. Freespool is a little slow right now however that might change once it gets some usage out of it. Customer service is excellent.

Price: $280.00
Pros: Strong, good value
Cons: hard to free spool when new
Recommended? Yes

Comments: The winch is actually a Rugged Ridge 8500lb. I believe its the same as a Smithbuilt. I pulled my friends TJ up a steep hill. It was high centered causing it to drag. Used a snatch block which helped. My TJ was lifted off the ground. I have used it three time and its getting easier to free spool. Looks like it going to be a good winch.

Price: $300.00
Pros: don't know, haven't used it yet
Cons: hard as hell to install
Recommended? Yes

Comments: Since I already had the new Smitty src stinger bumper thought I would go with the xrc8 and xrc winch plate, should all bolt together quite nicely right? Not the case, had do cut plate to fit in between stinger, then had to remove bumper to install plate/winch. Total nightmare. In the end Lokks badass.

Price: $269.00
Pros: affordable, reliable
Cons: paint on Smittybilt sticker faded on the solenoid -- who cares?
Recommended? Yes

Comments: This winch gets beat up on the forum all the time from the Warn crowd who swears anything not "made right here in the USA" is going to fall apart on the trail.

I've had this winch for about a year, and it hasn't fallen apart yet. It hasn't failed once. It does the job just as well as any other winch I've seen, and it came with a lifetime warranty. What more can I ask for?

Price: $350.00
Pros: More than enough power. Doesn't drain power too hard. No issues with it yet.
Cons: None
Recommended? Yes

Comments: Got her mounted on a rough country winch mount mounted to the stock bumber of an '01 TJ. The winch has served me great so far. The winch has dragged a 24' speed boat out of a deep brush filled ditch, has dragged a 60' downed aspen up a wooded hill, drug a minivan off a huge snow mound (no idea how she got it up there), oh and was used by the jeep twice to get unstuck. Great winch.

Pros: small
Cons: Won't work with smitty built bumpers with winch guard/bar.

Comments: Had to make a bracket to offset the control box to work with the XRC rock bumper. Would not work in either location.

Price: $300.00
Pros: Inexpensive, Works as a winch should
Cons: none yet
Recommended? Yes

Comments: I have not had this winch for a very long time but have used it in a few recoveries and it has worked great. Maybe its just me but the cable seems to get kinks easier than other winch cables I have used with other Jeeps. Otherwise it was easy to install, works great and is a great value for the money!
