Had to make a bracket to offset the control box to work with the XRC rock bumper. Would not work in either location.

Got her mounted on a rough country winch mount mounted to the stock bumber of an '01 TJ. The winch has served me great so far. The winch has dragged a 24' speed boat out of a deep brush filled ditch, has dragged a 60' downed aspen up a wooded hill, drug a minivan off a huge snow mound (no idea how she got it up there), oh and was used by the jeep twice to get unstuck. Great winch.

This winch gets beat up on the forum all the time from the Warn crowd who swears anything not "made right here in the USA" is going to fall apart on the trail.

I've had this winch for about a year, and it hasn't fallen apart yet. It hasn't failed once. It does the job just as well as any other winch I've seen, and it came with a lifetime warranty. What more can I ask for?

Since I already had the new Smitty src stinger bumper thought I would go with the xrc8 and xrc winch plate, should all bolt together quite nicely right? Not the case, had do cut plate to fit in between stinger, then had to remove bumper to install plate/winch. Total nightmare. In the end Lokks badass.

The winch is actually a Rugged Ridge 8500lb. I believe its the same as a Smithbuilt. I pulled my friends TJ up a steep hill. It was high centered causing it to drag. Used a snatch block which helped. My TJ was lifted off the ground. I have used it three time and its getting easier to free spool. Looks like it going to be a good winch.

Haven't really got a chance to put it to the test yet, however it seems be a quality piece of equipment for the price. Customer service is great!

The price and company backing is great (thanks Ray at smitty). In general by far best winch for the money for the weekend wheeler.

Easy Install, great instructions, synthetic rope. Tight Clutch Brake, very hard to pull out when clutch is disengaged. Solenoid wont mount over motor when installed on XRC front bumper
