Comments: Haven't had to use it yet. It was a christmas gift. I have buddies who have the same winch and they approve it!

Ramsey REP 8.5e
Price: $400.00
Pros: Inexpensive, made in USA, compact
Cons: Rather slow, permanent magnet motor, need to mount solonoid box somewhere
Recommended? Yes

Comments: My unit was purchased used but I replaced the motor. It fits in my ARB bumper with a bit of tweaking. This winch has a seperate solonoid box that has to mount "somewhere". We fabricated some longer cables and mounted mine under the hood for a cleaner looking installation and to offer more protection against mud/water.

The winch has performed well, although the line speed seems rather slow. It is just right for a Cherokee, and I have recovered heavier vehicles as well. If I were to buy a new one, I'd probably get the 9K for a few dollars more.
