Wiring Recommendations for dual Alpine amplifiers

Today I ordered the final pieces for my stereo system for my Unlimited JK. I ordered an Alpine MRP-F250 to power the speakers in the dash and sound bar. I also ordered an Alpine MRP-M650 to power my Infinity Perfect 10.1 10" 4-ohm Component Subwoofer.

The question I have is what size wire should I use to wire the amps up? I have seen some kits that are dual amp kits that are supposed to simplify this and make it neater. They typically have a power distribution block. I have seen prepackaged kits, but most of what I am reading by user reviews is that they would have been better off purchasing the individual components. I don't think I'm going to need a capacitor with this simple setup because it is not like it is a competion grade 5,000 watt system, but if someone thinks I should put one, please let know what size. I don't think I need to though, especially since capacitors are not some magical power source. They are more or less just a shock absorber in the electrical system. I want to get this done right the first time and I want to have a pleasant installation experience, not something that will cause me to lose my religion because things aren't going well.

a duel amp setup with a 4awg lead and two 8awg leads from the distribution block will do you just fine. both amps require 8awg leads so you will be fine. i run one bit only running 1 amp. i use the other lead to power an inverter and have no troubles and wouldnt think twice to wire in another amp for the highs.

Everytime i've ever run a 2 amp setup I have done it the exact way mylt1 said,4g..to a distro block...then (2) 8g outputs from block. It has worked great everytime with no problems at all..I also used a distro block for the grounds..makes it alot easier.

Thanks for the advice guys. I think I'll get a distribution block with a couple of extra outputs in case I want to add other accessories later.

I assume I won't need a capacitor or dual batteries for these two little amps since they aren't very powerful compared to many others on the market? If I need one, where is the best place to mount it?

You shouldn't need a cap quite yet. You are better off upgrading the cables on your alternator and battery before you purchase a capacitor.

Here is a really great write up on the process and probably would apply to any jeeper with add-ons that would be taxing on the electrical system.

EDIT:Maybe SirGCal could sticky that wriet up somewhere and give the OP credit for it?

if you want to add more acc's in the future add a new fuse block. that way your not putting to much load on the amp wire and fuse.
