Winch emergency disconnect

Anyone running any type of emergency disconnecting means for their winch?

Got to thinking about it the other day, if a solenoid were to stick (weld its contacts together) while using the winch, the results could be disastrous. Broken cables, hooks pulled thru fair leads, or worse.

I don't have in cab controls, I use a wireless remote so I can use it in the cab or up by the winch.

Thought about trying to wire another solenoid under the hood where the winch connects to the battery and using a couple estop buttons in series one in the cab and one up at the winch.

Or maybe just a simple battery disconnect switch to disconnect power from the winch mounted up at the winch. A person could still jump out and turn the switch if something went wrong.

I also know how I unlikely this situation might be, but its always better to be ready for such situations.

Sent from my phone where correct grammar is difficult.
