Wilson Flex-4 or FGT 3?
I’m in the process of installing a CB & antenna in my TJ. I fab’d a simple antenna mount bracket behind the spare tire. After putting the pieces in place, I’m wondering if I should have gone with a standard 3 ft antenna (like the FGT-3), instead of the slim 4 footer I bought (Flex-4). Without the tip on, the top of the antenna is about 20 inches above my soft top (plus, it’s about 6 inches behind the back of the soft top). Is this taller than I really need for basic off-road communication?

Make a device to hold the 4 footer bent over. This will avoid any trees or low hanging branches. After the trail run you can release the antenna and get all of the benefits of the taller antenna.
