Wilson 1000 placement

Hey all

I have a 95 XJ that I putting a CB in. I have a Cobra 29 classic with weather band on it. I have it in the shop now getting modded and peaked and tuned. The tech told me I should get around 10-12W dead key and 20-25W swing. I also got him to order me a Wilson 1000 mag mount. My question is where would be the best place to put it. I have been told right in the middle of the roof. But I would rather place it about 12" from the back right in front on the first bar on the roof rack. Mainly because I can run the coax down that bar and into the rear hatch and make it very neat. The 1000 comes with 17' of coax so I'm not sure if it would long enough to go from the middle to the back and then all the way to the front. I don't want to run it into one of the doors if I can keep from it. I just wonder how much I would lose by putting it toward the back. If it's just going to make my signal a little stronger toward the front than the back that would be fine. But I don't want it to be like a beam and only work in one direction. So what do you all think? Is any one else running the Wilson 1000? And how far do you think I will be able to talk on it? It's hilly around here so I guess that will cut down on its range some to. Thanks for the help

If you can have him set the dead key at 5w or less. That way you can better wing of the radio. Its an omnidirectional antenna. So on top there isnt really anything in its way. I would put the antenna closes to the back that I could. I ran a wilson 1000 mag mount for years on several different autos and never had a problem. With 25ish watts you will be ok. I was running anywhere from 250-800 and everything worked fine.
