where to run power wire for amp through firewall in XJ?

i need to know where the best place is to run my power wire for jy amp through my fire wall in my 2000 XJ. right now i have it running through my fender and then through the door. but that has screwed up my weather seal making my door leak and my jeep smell pretty

also pics of how you ran your wire would be a great help.. i plan on doing this on friday since i will have a section of my carpet up on my passenger side..

Why not find a safe place to drill a hole and put the wire through it. I did that in my Grand Cherokee and got a rubber grommet from Autozone to protect the cable from the sharp metal. You could even go the route of sealing it in the hole with Black RTV if you wish. Just my .02

Is your amp on the passenger side or driver side?

On my 1996, I drilled a hole in the firewall directly to the outside of the heater/AC box. it was a pain in the *** to drill the hole for a 1ga. wire but it worked out. Best part is it puts the wire in a straight line to the battery...
