Here is what I did I went to a local chain link fence place and purchased 2 clamps made for chain link fence bracing and a piece of top rail long enough to go between the factory TJ roll bar,I attached the top rail to the factory roll bar with the clamps then attached the cb's bracket to the top rail covered with black foam pipe insulation from Home Depot looks great + CB is out of the way but still accessible
sounds like a good idea. Any pics?
1999 TJ (my first Jeep without a carburetor!)
RE 2" BB and Moab's / MTR's, pretty much stock otherwise
Here's my mount sans-radio. Mine's a Cobra 29ltd. Antenna is mounted on teraflex mount above/behind driverside tail light. Antenna has since been replaced with a K-40 10 meter tunable 2.5 kilowatt fiberglass whip. Reception is now outstanding!
Sorry no pics . But my cb is mounted to the change tray on top of the dash. Its a Cobra 18 WX ST2 with a front facing speaker. The firestix antenna is on a teraflex bracket that mounts behind the left rear tail light. Works great for me.

Not a CB, but idea's the same. Keeps it out of the rain, is easy to see and never in the way. I don't have doors all summer, the lock will hopefully make sure any potential thieves need to spend more than 30 seconds trying to remove the radio. (I put a steel plate on the other side of the plastic)
thanx for all the ideas on this guys. there's a lot of good stuff here! i think i'm going to buy a smaller radio and maybe put it in the console (this big midland 77 250 unit won't fit in there...) and maybe get that overhead console eventually. room is limited in these tj's haha
