How about getting a marine stereo?

Just a example.

If I was to do that with my deck it would probably catch on fire, 26watts RMS CEA-2006, it still the most powerful Alpine has ever made. Its even got a fan on the back to keep it cool when its really cranked.

hmmmm maybe a plexiglass case with room around it so the stereo can still "breathe" and louvers on the top to let heat escape but not let water in?

This is what I would suggest but it is going to be an interesting project with all the duct work and wiring in the dash. I would recommend just going and getting a tuffy console and saving yourself the headache.
