Usb problems

I keep having the same problems whenever I plug my Ipod into the USB port in the armrest.
1. When I push skip it won't play that song, but if I press it again, it will play the next song.
2. It will skip that last few seconds (or up to a minute) at the end of a song (happens on all the songs)
How do I fix this?

I have used an AUX cable and it works perfectly fine, was just hoping to use the USB port so I wouldn't have to constantly look down at my Ipod and it's nicer to have it out of the way.
