Tuning your antenna will have more affect on your ability to transmit than to receive.

Is their anybody close that can help me tune it their isnt a shop in lafayettte that can do it, and I dont have the stuff to do it and I am not real sure what I am doing. I think I have like a Barjan antenna and I am not sure if it is tuneable. I have been looking at firestik and wilson antennas what would you guys recommend. Also the cb unit I have is a Unidenn pro 510xl

Your 3hrs+ away and it's not that hard. Actually you could start with a multimeter. If you know how to check continuity or measure resistance. With it all installed as is remove the cb cable from the back of the radio. Then start by verifying the continuity of the tip of the antenna bare wire to the center conductor at the radio end. Then verify low res between the outer shield at the radio and the body. Should be 5 ohm or less. Then verify very very high res or no continuity between the center conductor and the outer shield at the radio end.

A mistuned antenna won't cause receive problems. Your antenna mount was probably misassembled which is the most common reason for that kind of problem. The common issue resulting in a misassembled antenna mount is when its nylon insulating shoulder washer is missing, out of position, or broken from the mount being overtightened.
